ततॊ देवॊ गिरिशॊ वज्रपाणिं; विवृत्य नेत्रे कुपितॊ ऽभयुवाच दरीम एतां परविश तवं शतक्रतॊ; यन मां बाल्याद अवमंस्थाः पुरस्तात ॥ १-१८९-२१ ॥
'Then the god Girisha, glaring at Indra with wide-open eyes, spoke angrily, "O Indra of a hundred sacrifices, enter this cave immediately, for you have insulted me out of ignorance."' ॥ 1-189-21 ॥

उक्तस तव एवं विभुना देवराजः; परवेपमानॊ भृशम एवाभिषङ्गात सरस्तैर अङ्गैर अनिलेनेव नुन्नम; अश्वत्थ पात्रं गिरिराजमूर्ध्नि ॥ १-१८९-२२ ॥
'Thus addressed by the lord Ishana, the chief of the celestials, He was deeply pained by that terrible imprecation, And with limbs weakened by fear, he trembled Like the wind-shaken leaf of a Himalayan fig tree.' ॥ 1-189-22 ॥

स पराञ्जलिर विनतेनाननेन; परवेपमानः सहसैवम उक्तः उवाच चेदं बहुरूपम उग्रं; दरष्टा शेषस्य भगवंस तवं भवाद्य ॥ १-१८९-२३ ॥
'Unexpectedly cursed by Shiva, the god whose vehicle is a bull, Indra, with hands joined and body trembling from head to foot, addressed that fierce, multi-formed god, saying: "O Bhava, thou art the overlooker of the infinite Universe!"' ॥ 1-189-23 ॥

तम अब्रवीद उग्रधन्वा परहस्य; नैवं शीलाः शेषम इहाप्नुवन्ति एते ऽपय एवं भवितारः पुरस्तात; तस्माद एतां दरिम आविश्य शेध्वम ॥ १-१८९-२४ ॥
'Upon hearing these words, the god of fiery energy smiled and said, "Those of disposition like yours never obtain my grace. These others within the cave had once been just like you. Therefore, enter this cave and lie there for some time."' ॥ 1-189-24 ॥

शेषॊ ऽपय एवं भविता नॊ न संशयॊ; यॊनिं सर्वे मानुषीम आविशध्वम तत्र यूयं कर्मकृत्वाविषह्यं; बहून अन्यान निधनं परापयित्वा ॥ १-१८९-२५ ॥
'The fate of you all shall certainly be the same. You shall all have to take birth in the human world, where, after achieving many difficult feats and slaying a large number of men, you shall again regain the valued region of Indra by the merits of your respective deeds.' ॥ 1-189-25 ॥
