[आुर्व] उक्तवान अस्मि यां करॊधात परतिज्ञां पितरस तदा सर्वलॊकविनाशाय न सा मे वितथा भवेत ॥ १-१७१-१ ॥

'The Gandharva continued, 'Vasishtha then went on to say, 'Upon hearing these words from the Pitris, Aurva replied to them, O child, saying: 'O Pitris, the vow I made in anger for the destruction of all worlds must not be in vain.'' ॥ 1-171-1 ॥

वृथा रॊषा परतिज्ञॊ हि नाहं जीवितुम उत्सहे अनिस्तीर्णॊ हि मां रॊषॊ दहेद अग्निर इवारणिम ॥ १-१७१-२ ॥

'I refuse to be someone whose anger and promises come to nothing. Like fire devouring dry wood, this rage of mine will surely consume me if I fail to fulfill my vow.' ॥ 1-171-2 ॥

यॊ हि कारणतः करॊधं संजातं कषन्तुम अर्हति नालं स मनुजः सम्यक तरिवर्गं परिरक्षितुम ॥ १-१७१-३ ॥

'The person who suppresses justified anger becomes unable to properly achieve the three aims of life: righteousness, wealth, and pleasure.' ॥ 1-171-3 ॥

अशिष्टानां नियन्ता हि शिष्टानां परिरक्षता सथाने रॊषः परयुक्तः सयान नृपैः सवर्गजिगीषुभिः ॥ १-१७१-४ ॥

'The controller of the uncultured, indeed the protector of the virtuous, anger is properly employed in that situation by kings desirous of conquering heaven.' ॥ 1-171-4 ॥

अश्रौषम अहम ऊरुस्थॊ गर्भशय्या गतस तदा आरावं मातृवर्गस्य भृगूणां कषत्रियैर वधे ॥ १-१७१-५ ॥

'While I lay unborn within my mother's womb, I heard the lamentations of my mother and other women of the Bhrigu lineage who were being slaughtered by the Kshatriyas.' ॥ 1-171-5 ॥
