[वै] करिष्य इति भीमेन परतिज्ञाते तु भारत आजग्मुस ते ततः सर्वे भैक्षम आदाय पाण्डवाः ॥ १-१५०-१ ॥

'Vaisampayana narrated, 'After Bhima had pledged himself, saying, 'I will do it,' the Pandavas returned home with the alms they had collected during the day.'' ॥ 1-150-1 ॥

आकारेणैव तं जञात्वा पाण्डुपुत्रॊ युधिष्ठिरः रहः समुपविश्यैकस ततः पप्रच्छ मातरम ॥ १-१५०-२ ॥

'Yudhishthira, discerning from Bhima's demeanor the nature of the task he had undertaken, privately inquired of his mother.' ॥ 1-150-2 ॥

किं चिकीर्षत्य अयं कर्म भीमॊ भीमपराक्रमः भवत्य अनुमते कच चिद अयं कर्तुम इहेच्छति ॥ १-१५०-३ ॥

'What task, O mother, does Bhima, with his formidable strength, seek to accomplish? Is it by your command or of his own volition?' ॥ 1-150-3 ॥

[कु] ममैव वचनाद एष करिष्यति परंतपः बराह्मणार्थे महत कृत्यं मॊष्काय नगरस्य च ॥ १-१५०-४ ॥

'Kunti replied, 'Bhima, the vanquisher of foes, will, at my command, undertake this noble deed for the benefit of the Brahmana and the liberation of this town.'' ॥ 1-150-4 ॥

[य] किम इदं साहसं तीक्ष्णं भवत्या दुष्कृतं कृतम परित्यागं हि पुत्रस्य न परशंसन्ति साधवः ॥ १-१५०-५ ॥

'Yudhishthira exclaimed, "What rash deed have you committed, mother? This task is perilous, almost akin to self-destruction! The wise never approve of abandoning one's child.' ॥ 1-150-5 ॥
