[दरुपद] अश्रुत्वैवं वचनं ते महर्षे; मया पूर्वं यातितं कार्यम एतत न वै शक्यं विहितस्यापयातुं; तद एवेदम उपपन्नं विधानम ॥ १-१९०-१ ॥

'Vaisampayana said, 'Drupada, upon hearing this, responded, "O great Rishi, it was only because I had not heard this from you earlier that I sought to act in the way I described to you. Now, however, knowing all that has been ordained by the gods, I cannot remain indifferent."' ॥ 1-190-1 ॥

दिष्टस्य गरन्थिर अनिवर्तनीयः; सवकर्मणा विहितं नेह किं चित कृतं निमित्तं हि वरैक हेतॊस; तद एवेदम उपपन्नं बहूनाम ॥ १-१९०-२ ॥

'Therefore, I resolve to fulfill what you have said. The knot of destiny cannot be undone. Nothing in this world happens solely due to our actions. What was initially intended to secure only one bridegroom has now culminated in favor of many.' ॥ 1-190-2 ॥

यथैव कृष्णॊक्तवती पुरस्तान; नैकान पतीन मे भगवान ददातु स चाप्य एवं वरम इत्य अब्रवीत तां; देवॊ हि वेद परमं यद अत्र ॥ १-१९०-३ ॥

'As Krishna had fervently exclaimed in a previous life, "O, grant me a husband!" the great God himself granted her the boon she had requested.' ॥ 1-190-3 ॥

यदि वायं विहितः शंकरेण; धर्मॊ ऽधर्मॊ वा नात्र ममापराधः गृह्णन्त्व इमे विधिवत पाणिम अस्या; यथॊपजॊषं विहितैषां हि कृष्णा ॥ १-१९०-४ ॥

'The god himself knows what is right or wrong in this matter. As for myself, when Sankara has ordained it, whether it is right or wrong, no sin can be attributed to me. Let them, with joyful hearts, accept Krishna's hand as ordained, with all the rituals.' ॥ 1-190-4 ॥

[वै] ततॊ ऽबरवीद भगवान धर्मराजम; अद्य पुण्याहम उत पाण्डवेय अद्य पौष्यं यॊगम उपैति चन्द्रमाः; पाणिं कृष्णायास तवं गृहाणाद्य पूर्वम ॥ १-१९०-५ ॥

'Vaisampayana continued, "Then the illustrious Vyasa, addressing Yudhishthira the just, said, 'O son of Pandu, this day is indeed auspicious! This day, the moon has entered the constellation called Pushya. Take Krishna's hand today, yourself first before your brothers!' ॥ 1-190-5 ॥

Verses 6-10
