[व] संवत्सराहिते गर्भे गान्धार्या जनमेजय आह्वयाम आस वै कुन्ती गर्भार्थं धर्मम अच्युतम ॥ १-११४-१ ॥

'Vaisampayana said, 'O Janamejaya, when Gandhari's conception had been a full-year-old, it was then that Kunti summoned the eternal god of justice to obtain offspring from him.' ॥ 1-114-1 ॥

सा बलिं तवरिता देवी धर्मायॊपजहार ह जजाप जप्यं विधिवद दत्तं दुर्वाससा पुरा ॥ १-११४-२ ॥

'Without delay, she made offerings to the gods and commenced the recitation of the mantra given to her by Durvasa, following all the prescribed rituals.' ॥ 1-114-2 ॥

संगम्य सा तु धर्मेण यॊगमूर्ति धरेण वै लेभे पुत्रं वरारॊहा सर्वप्राणभृतां वरम ॥ १-११४-३ ॥

'Then the graceful Kunti, in her spiritual connection, joined with the god of justice and bore from him a son dedicated to the welfare of all beings.' ॥ 1-114-3 ॥

ऐन्द्रे चन्द्रसमायुक्ते मुहूर्ते ऽभिजिते ऽषटमे दिवा मध्यगते सूर्ये तिथौ पुण्ये ऽभिपूजिते ॥ १-११४-४ ॥

'And at the eighth Muhurta known as Abhijit, during the auspicious hour of noon on that very propitious day of the seventh month (Kartika), specifically the fifth day of the waxing fortnight, she delivered his splendid child, who later attained great renown.' ॥ 1-114-4 ॥
