[वै] भीमसेनस तु तं दृष्ट्वा राक्षसं परहसन्न इव भगिनीं परति संक्रुद्धम इदं वचनम अब्रवीत ॥ १-१४१-१ ॥

'Vaisampayana continued, 'Seeing the Rakshasa furious with his sister, Bhima smiled mockingly and spoke to him,'' ॥ 1-141-1 ॥

किं ते हिडिम्ब एतैर वा सुखसुप्तैः परबॊधितैः माम आसादय दुर्बुद्धे तरसा तवं नराशन ॥ १-१४१-२ ॥

'O Hidimva, why disturb those who sleep so peacefully? O vile cannibal, come at me directly without delay.' ॥ 1-141-2 ॥

मय्य एव परहरैहि तवं न सत्रियं हन्तुम अर्हसि विशेषतॊ ऽनपकृते परेणापकृते सति ॥ १-१४१-३ ॥

'Strike me first—it is not fitting for you to harm a woman, especially one who has been wronged rather than being the wrongdoer.' ॥ 1-141-3 ॥

न हीयं सववशा बाला कामयत्य अद्य माम इह चॊदितैषा हय अनङ्गेन शरीरान्तर चारिणा भगिनी तव दुर्बुद्धे राक्षसानां यशॊहर ॥ १-१४१-४ ॥

'This girl bears little responsibility for desiring intimacy with me. She has been influenced by the deity of desire, who pervades all living beings. You, wicked one, the most infamous of Rakshasas, your sister came here under your command.' ॥ 1-141-4 ॥

तवन नियॊगेन चैवेयं रूपं मम समीक्ष्य च कामयत्य अद्य मां भीरुर नैषा दूषयते कुलम ॥ १-१४१-५ ॥

'This form of mine she desires today solely because of your instruction. O brave one, this woman does not tarnish her lineage.' ॥ 1-141-5 ॥
