[व] तेषु तरिषु कुमारेषु जातेषु कुरुजाङ्गलम कुरवॊ ऽथ कुरुक्षेत्रं तरयम एतद अवर्धत ॥ १-१०२-१ ॥

'Vaisampayana said, 'Upon the birth of those three children, Kurujangala, Kurukshetra, and the Kurus grew in prosperity.'' ॥ 1-102-1 ॥

english translation

ऊर्ध्वसस्याभवद भूमिः सस्यानि फलवन्ति च यथर्तु वर्षी पर्जन्यॊ बहुपुष्पफला दरुमाः ॥ १-१०२-२ ॥

'The the earth began to yield an abundant harvest, and the crops also were of good flavor. And the clouds began to pour rain in season and trees became full of fruits and flowers.' ॥ 1-102-2 ॥

english translation

वाहनानि परहृष्टानि मुदिता मृगपक्षिणः गन्धवन्ति च माल्यानि रसवन्ति फलानि च ॥ १-१०२-३ ॥

'And the draught cattle were all happy and the birds and other animals rejoiced exceedingly. And the flowers became fragrant and the fruits became sweet.' ॥ 1-102-3 ॥

english translation

वणिग्भिश चावकीर्यन्त नगराण्य अथ शिल्पिभिः शूराश च कृतविद्याश च सन्तश च सुखिनॊ ऽभवन ॥ १-१०२-४ ॥

'Cities and towns flourished with merchants, artisans, and creators of every kind. The populace thrived, embodying bravery, wisdom, integrity, and joy.' ॥ 1-102-4 ॥

english translation

नाभवन दस्यवः के चिन नाधर्मरुचयॊ जनाः परदेशेष्व अपि राष्ट्राणां कृतं युगम अवर्तत ॥ १-१०२-५ ॥

'There were no thieves or people inclined towards adharma; even in foreign lands, the age of righteousness prevailed.' ॥ 1-102-5 ॥
