[दरॊण] मन्त्राय समुपानीतैर धृतराष्ट्र हितैर नृप धर्म्यं पथ्यं यशस्यं च वाच्यम इत्य अनुशुश्रुमः ॥ १-१९६-१ ॥

'Vaisampayana continued, "After Bhishma had finished speaking, Drona addressed King Dhritarashtra, saying, 'It is understood that friends summoned for consultation should always speak what is right, true, and conducive to fame.'"' ॥ 1-196-1 ॥

ममाप्य एषा मतिस तात या भीष्मस्य महात्मनः संविभज्यास तु कौन्तेया धर्म एष सनातनः ॥ १-१९६-२ ॥

'O father, my thoughts on this matter echo those of the illustrious Bhishma. Let a portion of the kingdom be given to the Pandavas. This is eternal righteousness.' ॥ 1-196-2 ॥

परेष्यतां दरुपदायाशु नरः कश चित परियंवदः बहुलं रत्नम आदाय तेषाम अर्थाय भारत ॥ १-१९६-३ ॥

'Dispatch, O Bharata, without delay, a messenger with eloquent speech, bearing abundant treasures for the Pandavas, to Drupada.' ॥ 1-196-3 ॥

मिथः कृत्यं च तस्मै स आदाय बहु गच्छतु वृद्धिं च परमां बरूयात तत संयॊगॊद्भवां तथा ॥ १-१९६-४ ॥

'And let the envoy go to Drupada bearing valuable gifts for both the bridegrooms and the bride. He should also inform that monarch about the increase in your power and prestige resulting from this new alliance with him.' ॥ 1-196-4 ॥

संप्रीयमाणं तवां बरूयाद राजन दूर्यॊधनं तथा असकृद दरुपदे चैव धृष्टद्युम्ने च भारत ॥ १-१९६-५ ॥

'And, O monarch, ensure that the messenger is informed that both you and Duryodhana are exceedingly pleased with what has transpired.' ॥ 1-196-5 ॥
