[ज] एकचक्रां गतास ते तु कुन्तीपुत्रा महारथाः अतः परं दविजश्रेष्ठ किम अकुर्वत पाण्डवाः ॥ १-१४५-१ ॥

'Janamejaya asked, 'O first of Brahmanas, what did the Pandavas, those mighty car-warriors, the sons of Kunti, do after arriving at Ekachakra?' ॥ 1-145-1 ॥

[वै] एकचक्रां गतास ते तु कुन्तीपुत्रा महारथाः ऊषुर नातिचिरं कालं बराह्मणस्य निवेशने ॥ १-१४५-२ ॥

'Vaisampayana said, 'Those mighty car-warriors, the sons of Kunti, on arriving at Ekachakra, lived for a short time in the abode of a Brahmana.' ॥ 1-145-2 ॥

रमणीयानि पश्यन्तॊ वनानि विविधानि च पार्थिवान अपि चॊद्देशान सरितश च सरांसि च ॥ १-१४५-३ ॥

'Living a charitable life, they explored numerous enchanting forests, diverse landscapes, as well as many rivers and lakes during their wanderings.' ॥ 1-145-3 ॥

चेरुर भैक्षं तदा ते तु सर्व एव विशां पते बभूवुर नागराणां च सवैर गुणैः परियदर्शनाः ॥ १-१४५-४ ॥

'They became greatly beloved by the townsfolk due to their own admirable qualities and achievements.' ॥ 1-145-4 ॥

निवेदयन्ति सम च ते भैक्षं कुन्त्याः सदा निशि तया विभक्तान भागांस ते भुञ्जते सम पृथक पृथक ॥ १-१४५-५ ॥

'Consistently, they share the alms obtained by Kunti every night, and thus, divided among themselves, they partake separately.' ॥ 1-145-5 ॥
