[वै] पराणाधिकं भीमसेनं कृतविद्यं धनंजयम दुर्यॊधनॊ लक्षयित्व पर्यतप्यत दुर्मतिः ॥ १-१२९-१ ॥

'Observing Bhimasena, who excelled in strength, and Dhananjaya, who excelled in knowledge, Duryodhana, the foolish one, felt increasingly tormented.' ॥ 1-129-1 ॥

ततॊ वैकर्तनः कर्णः शकुनिश चापि सौबलः अनेकैर अभ्युपायैस ताञ जिघांसन्ति सम पाण्डवान ॥ १-१२९-२ ॥

'Then Duryodhana, the son of Dhritarashtra, together with Sakuni, the son of Suvala, Duhsasana, and Karna, conspired in secret, forming a malicious plot.' ॥ 1-129-2 ॥

पाण्डवाश चापि तत सर्वं परत्यजानन्न अरिंदमाः उद्भावनम अकुर्वन्तॊ विदुरस्य मते सथिताः ॥ १-१२९-३ ॥

'With the approval of Dhritarashtra, the king of the Kurus, they planned to burn Kunti and her five sons alive. However, Vidura, the wise sage adept at discerning intentions from outward signs alone, perceived the nefarious scheme of these evildoers.' ॥ 1-129-3 ॥

गुणैः समुदितान दृष्ट्वा पौराः पाण्डुसुतांस तदा कथयन्ति सम संभूय चत्वरेषु सभासु च ॥ १-१२९-४ ॥

'Then, O Bharata, upon witnessing the sons of Pandu adorned with virtues, the citizens began to extol them in every public gathering.' ॥ 1-129-4 ॥

परज्ञा चक्षुर अचक्षुष्ट्वाद धृतराष्ट्रॊ जनेश्वरः राज्यम अप्राप्तवान पूर्वं सा कथं नृपतिर भवेत ॥ १-१२९-५ ॥

'And they said, 'Dhritarashtra, though possessing the eye of wisdom, remained blind from birth and had not previously acquired the kingdom. How then could he become king now?'' ॥ 1-129-5 ॥
