[स] एतस्मिन्न एव काले तु भगिन्यौ ते तपॊधन अपश्यतां समायान्तम उच्चैःश्रवसम अन्तिकात ॥ १-१५-१ ॥

'Sauti said, 'O ascetic, At that very moment, the ascetic couple, beheld a divine and celestial occurrence near their hermitage.' ॥ 1-15-1 ॥

यं तं देवगणाः सर्वे हृष्टरूपा अपूजयन मथ्यमाने ऽमृते जातम अश्वरत्नम अनुत्तमम ॥ १-१५-२ ॥

'Uchchaihsravas, the steed of resplendent countenance, worshipped by the gods and renowned as the gem among steeds, emerged during the churning of the Ocean for the nectar.' ॥ 1-15-2 ॥

महौघबलम अश्वानाम उत्तमं जवतां वरम शरीमन्तम अजरं दिव्यं सर्वलक्षणलक्षितम ॥ १-१५-३ ॥

'Divine, graceful, perpetually young, creation's master-piece, and of irresistible vigour, it was blest with every auspicious mark.' ॥ 1-15-3 ॥

[ष] कथं तद अमृतं देवैर मथितं कव च शंस मे यत्र जज्ञे महावीर्यः सॊ ऽशवराजॊ महाद्युतिः ॥ १-१५-४ ॥

'Saunaka asked, 'Why did the gods churn the Ocean for nectar, and under what circumstances and when as you say, did that best of steeds so powerful and resplendent spring?' ॥ 1-15-4 ॥

[स] जवलन्तम अचलं मेरुं तेजॊराशिम अनुत्तमम आक्षिपन्तं परभां भानॊः सवशृङ्गैः काञ्चनॊज्ज्वलैः ॥ १-१५-५ ॥

'Sauti said, 'There is a mountain named Meru, of blazing appearance, and looking like a heap of effulgence. The rays of the Sun falling on its peaks of golden luster are dispersed by them.' ॥ 1-15-5 ॥
