[ज] ते तथा पुरुषव्याघ्रा निहत्य बकराक्षसम अत ऊर्ध्वं ततॊ बरह्मन किम अकुर्वत पाण्डवाः ॥ १-१५३-१ ॥

'After this citizens returned to their respective houses and the Pandavas continued to dwell at Ekachakra as before. Janamejaya said, 'O Brahmana, what did those tigers among men, the Pandavas, do after they had slain the Rakshasa Vaka?'' ॥ 1-153-1 ॥

[वै] तत्रैव नयवसन राजन निहत्य बकराक्षसम अधीयानाः परं बरह्म बराह्मणस्य निवेशने ॥ १-१५३-२ ॥

'Vaisampayana said, 'O king, after slaying the Rakshasa Vaka, the Pandavas continued to reside in the Brahmana's abode, dedicating themselves to the study of the Vedas.' ॥ 1-153-2 ॥

ततः कतिपयाहस्य बराह्मणः संशितव्रतः परतिश्रयार्थं तद वेश्म बराह्मणस्याजगाम ह ॥ १-१५३-३ ॥

'Before long, a Brahmana of austere vows arrived at their host's residence seeking shelter.' ॥ 1-153-3 ॥

स सम्यक पूजयित्वा तं विद्वान विप्रर्षभस तदा ददौ परतिश्रयं तस्मै सदा सर्वातिथि वरती ॥ १-१५३-४ ॥

'Their generous host, ever hospitable to guests, welcomed the newcomer with elaborate rituals and provided him accommodation in his own dwelling.' ॥ 1-153-4 ॥

'Then, the noble Pandavas, along with their mother Kunti, eagerly requested the Brahmana to share his fascinating experiences.' ॥ 1-153-5 ॥
