पञ्च कृत्वस तवया उक्तः पतिं देहीत्य अहं पुनः तत तथा भविता भद्रे तव तद भद्रम अस्तु ते देहम अन्यं गतायास ते यथॊक्तं तद भविष्यति ।। १-१८९-४६ ।।

sanskrit

'O maiden, you have addressed me five times, repeating, 'Give me a husband.' Therefore, O amiable one, it shall indeed be as you have asked. Blessed be you. However, all this will happen in a future life of yours!' ।। 1-189-46 ।।

english translation

paJca kRtvasa tavayA uktaH patiM dehItya ahaM punaH tata tathA bhavitA bhadre tava tada bhadrama astu te dehama anyaM gatAyAsa te yathòktaM tada bhaviSyati || 1-189-46 ||

'Vyasa continued, "O Drupada, this daughter of yours, of celestial beauty, is that maiden. Indeed, the faultless Krishna, born in the lineage of Prishata, has been destined to become the wife of five husbands."' ।। 1-189-47 ।।

darupadaiSA hi sA jajJe sutA te devarUpiNI paJcAnAM vihitA patnI kRSNA pArSatya aninditA || 1-189-47 ||

'The celestial Sri, having endured rigorous ascetic penances, has taken birth as your daughter through the course of your grand sacrifice, all for the sake of the Pandavas.' ।। 1-189-48 ।।

savargazrIH pANDavArthAya samutpannA mahAmakhe seha taptvA tapò ghòraM duhitRtvaM tavAgatA || 1-189-48 ||

'That beautiful goddess, attended by all the celestial beings, by her deeds, becomes the wife of five husbands. It is for this purpose that the self-created (Brahma) had fashioned her. Having heard all this, O King Drupada, do as you wish.' ।। 1-189-49 ।।

english translation

saiSA devI rucirA deva juSTA; paJcAnAma ekA savakRtena karmaNA sRSTA savayaM devapatnI savayambhuvA; zarutvA rAjana darupadeSTaM kuruSva || 1-189-49 ||
