[दरुपद] अश्रुत्वैवं वचनं ते महर्षे; मया पूर्वं यातितं कार्यम एतत न वै शक्यं विहितस्यापयातुं; तद एवेदम उपपन्नं विधानम ॥ १-१९०-१ ॥

sanskrit

'Vaisampayana said, 'Drupada, upon hearing this, responded, "O great Rishi, it was only because I had not heard this from you earlier that I sought to act in the way I described to you. Now, however, knowing all that has been ordained by the gods, I cannot remain indifferent."' ॥ 1-190-1 ॥

english translation

[darupada] azrutvaivaM vacanaM te maharSe; mayA pUrvaM yAtitaM kAryama etata na vai zakyaM vihitasyApayAtuM; tada evedama upapannaM vidhAnama ॥ 1-190-1 ॥
