ततस तस्मिन परतिज्ञाते भीष्मेण कुरुनन्दन कृष्णद्वैपायनं काली चिन्तयाम आस वै मुनिम ।। १-९९-२१ ।।

'When Bhishma uttered these words, O descendant of the Kuru lineage, Satyavati (Kali) summoned the sage Dwaipayana. Even though Dwaipayana was occupied with the interpretation of the Vedas, upon hearing his mother's call, he swiftly appeared before her, unnoticed by anyone.' ।। 1-99-21 ।।

'O descendant of Kuru, while deeply engaged in expounding the Vedas, the wise Dwaipayana, realizing his mother's contemplation, appeared before her in an instant, unnoticed by others.' ।। 1-99-22 ।।

'Satayavati then duly greeted her son and embraced him with arms, bathing him in her tears, for the daughter of the fisherman wept bitterly at the sight of her son after so long a time.' ।। 1-99-23 ।।

tasmai pUjAM tadA dattvA sutAya vidhipUrvakama pariSvajya ca bAhubhyAM parasnavaira abhiSicya ca mumòca bASpaM dAzeyI putraM dRSTvA cirasya tama || 1-99-23 ||
