तस्मै पूजां ततॊ ऽकार्षीत पुरॊधाः परमर्षये स च तां परतिजग्राह विधिवन मन्त्रपूर्वकम ॥ १-९९-२६ ॥
'Therefore, O virtuous one, command me without delay. I shall accomplish thy desire.' The family priest of the Bharatas then worshipped the great Rishi duly, and the latter accepted the offerings of worship, uttering the usual mantras.' ॥ 1-99-26 ॥
english translation
तम आसनगतं माता पृष्ट्वा कुशलम अव्ययम सत्यवत्य अभिवीक्ष्यैनम उवाचेदम अनन्तरम ॥ १-९९-२७ ॥
'Feeling pleased with the reverence shown to him, he settled comfortably into his seat. Satyavati, observing him now relaxed, and after exchanging customary greetings, proceeded to address him.' ॥ 1-99-27 ॥
english translation
मातापित्रॊः परजायन्ते पुत्राः साधारणाः कवे तेषां पिता यथा सवामी तथा माता न संशयः ॥ १-९९-२८ ॥
'O wise one, children are born from both the mother and the father, making them shared by both. It's undeniable that the mother holds as much authority over them as does the father.' ॥ 1-99-28 ॥
english translation
विधातृविहितः स तवं यथा मे परथमः सुतः विचित्रवीर्यॊ बरह्मर्षे तथा मे ऽवरजः सुतः ॥ १-९९-२९ ॥
'As you are indeed my eldest son by law, O Brahmarshi, similarly, Vichitravirya is my youngest son.' ॥ 1-99-29 ॥
english translation
यथैव पितृतॊ भीष्मस तथा तवम अपि मातृतः भराता विचित्रवीर्यस्य यथा वा पुत्र मन्यसे ॥ १-९९-३० ॥
'As Bhishma is Vichitravirya's brother through their father, so are you his brother through the same mother.' ॥ 1-99-30 ॥
