तत्र यद यद यथा जञातं मया संजय तच छृणु शरुत्वा हि मम वाक्यानि बुद्ध्या युक्तानि तत्त्वतः ततॊ जञास्यसि मां सौते परज्ञा चक्षुषम इत्य उत ।। १-१-१०१ ।।

'Hear, O Sanjaya, all that happened thereupon and came to my knowledge. And when thou hast heard all I say, recollecting everything as it fell out, thou shall then know me for one with a prophetic eye.' ।। 1-1-101 ।।

english translation

tatra yada yada yathA jaJAtaM mayA saMjaya taca chRNu zarutvA hi mama vAkyAni buddhyA yuktAni tattvataH tatò jaJAsyasi mAM saute parajJA cakSuSama itya uta || 1-1-101 ||

यदाश्रौषं धनुर आयम्य चित्रं; विद्धं लक्ष्यं पातितं वै पृथिव्याम कृष्णां हृतां पश्यतां सर्वराज्ञां; तदा नाशंसे विजयाय संजय ।। १-१-१०२ ।।

'When I heard that Arjuna, having bent the bow, had pierced the curious mark and brought it down to the ground, and bore away in triumph the maiden Krishna, in the sight of the assembled princes, then, O Sanjaya I had no hope of success.' ।। 1-1-102 ।।

यदाश्रौषं दवारकायां सुभद्रां; परसह्यॊढां माधवीम अर्जुनेन इन्द्रप्रस्थं वृष्णिवीरौ च यातौ; तदा नाशंसे विजयाय संजय ।। १-१-१०३ ।।

'When I heard that Subhadra of the race of Madhu had, after forcible abducted & married by Arjuna in the city of Dwaraka, and that the two heroes of the race of Vrishni (Krishna and Balarama the brothers of Subhadra) without resenting it had entered Indraprastha as friends, then, O Sanjaya, I had no hope of success.' ।। 1-1-103 ।।

yadAzrauSaM davArakAyAM subhadrAM; parasahyòDhAM mAdhavIma arjunena indraprasthaM vRSNivIrau ca yAtau; tadA nAzaMse vijayAya saMjaya || 1-1-103 ||

'When I heard that Arjuna, by his celestial arrow preventing the downpour by Indra the king of the gods, had gratified Agni by making over to him the forest of Khandava, then, O Sanjaya, I had no hope of success.' ।। 1-1-104 ।।

yadAzrauSaM devarAjaM paravRSTaM; zaraira divyaira vAritaM cArjunena agniM tathA tarpitaM khANDave ca; tadA nAzaMse vijayAya saMjaya || 1-1-104 ||

'When I heard that Yudhishthira had been deprived of his kingdom, defeated in a game of dice by Shakuni, and saw him, along with his brothers, undergoing unimaginable hardships, I sensed an impending calamity and did not foresee victory, Sanjaya.' ।। 1-1-105 ।।
