यदाश्रौषं हृतराज्यं युधिष्ठिरं; पराजितं सौबलेनाक्षवत्याम अन्वागतं भरातृभिर अप्रमेयैस; तदा नाशंसे विजयाय संजय ॥ १-१-१०५ ॥
'When I heard that Yudhishthira had been deprived of his kingdom, defeated in a game of dice by Shakuni, and saw him, along with his brothers, undergoing unimaginable hardships, I sensed an impending calamity and did not foresee victory, Sanjaya.' ॥ 1-1-105 ॥
