यदाश्रौषं धनुर आयम्य चित्रं; विद्धं लक्ष्यं पातितं वै पृथिव्याम कृष्णां हृतां पश्यतां सर्वराज्ञां; तदा नाशंसे विजयाय संजय ॥ १-१-१०२ ॥
'When I heard that Arjuna, having bent the bow, had pierced the curious mark and brought it down to the ground, and bore away in triumph the maiden Krishna, in the sight of the assembled princes, then, O Sanjaya I had no hope of success.' ॥ 1-1-102 ॥
