अथ ताम अष्टमे पुत्रे जाते परहसिताम इव उवाच राजा दुःखार्तः परीप्सन पुत्रम आत्मनः ॥ १-९२-४६ ॥

'However, upon the birth of the eighth child, as his wife prepared to cast the child into the river with a smile, the sorrowful king, eager to save his child, spoke to her.' ॥ 1-92-46 ॥

'His wife responded, "O one who yearns for children, you now stand foremost among those blessed with progeny. Fear not, for I will not harm this child. Yet, in accordance with the pact between us, my time with you has now concluded."' ॥ 1-92-48 ॥
