अहं गङ्गा जह्नुसुता महर्षिगणसेविता देवकार्यार्थ सिद्ध्यर्थम उषिटाहं तवया सह ॥ १-९२-४९ ॥

'I am Ganga, the daughter of Jahnu. I am ever worshipped by the great sages; I have lived with thee so long for accomplishing the purposes of the celestials.' ॥ 1-92-49 ॥
