[देव] दत्तां वहस्व पित्रा मां तवं हि राजन वृतॊ मया अयाचतॊ भयं नास्ति दत्तां च परतिगृह्णतः ॥ १-७६-२६ ॥
'Devayani expressed, "Indeed, I have chosen you, and it is known that you would accept me if my father offers me to you. You should have no fear in accepting me, for you are not soliciting me; I come of my own volition."' ॥ 1-76-26 ॥
english translation
[व] तवरितं देव यान्याथ परेषितं पितुर आत्मनः शरुत्वैव च स राजानं दर्शयाम आस भार्गवः ॥ १-७६-२७ ॥
'Vaisampayana continued, 'Subsequently, Devayani promptly dispatched a maid to her father. The maid conveyed to Sukra everything that had occurred. Upon hearing the account, Bhargava swiftly arrived and beheld Yayati.'' ॥ 1-76-27 ॥

दृष्ट्वैव चागतं शुक्रं ययातिः पृथिवीपतिः ववन्दे बराह्मणं काव्यं पराञ्जलिः परणतः सथितः ॥ १-७६-२८ ॥
'Seeing Sukra arrive, Yayati, the king of the earth, bowed to the venerable Brahmana with folded hands, showing his respect.' ॥ 1-76-28 ॥
english translation
[देव] राजायं नाहुषस तात दुर्गे मे पाणिम अग्रहीत नमस ते देहि माम अस्मै नान्यं लॊके पतिं वृणे ॥ १-७६-२९ ॥
'Devayani spoke, "This, O father, is Nahusha's son who grasped my hand in my moment of distress. I pay my respects to you. I request you to grant me to him, for I shall choose no other as my husband in the world.' ॥ 1-76-29 ॥

[षु] वृतॊ ऽनया पतिर वीर सुतया तवं ममेष्टया गृहाणेमां मया दत्तां महिषीं नहुषात्मज ॥ १-७६-३० ॥
'Shukra then said, "O brave one, by my beloved daughter, you have been chosen as her husband. Accept her, bestowed by me, as your queen, O son of Nahusha."' ॥ 1-76-30 ॥
