यद्य अहं वचनाद एव गृह्णीयाम इमम आत्मजम भवेद धि शङ्का लॊकस्य नैवं शुद्धॊ भवेद अयम ॥ १-६९-३६ ॥
'Had I accepted him as my son solely on Shakuntala's statement, suspicion would have lingered among my subjects, and my son's legitimacy would not have been viewed as untainted.' ॥ 1-69-36 ॥

तं विशॊध्य तदा राजा देवदूतेन भारत हृष्टः परमुदितश चापि परतिजग्राह तं सुतम ॥ १-६९-३७ ॥
'Vaisampayana continued, 'The king, of Bharata's lineage, witnessing the purity of his son affirmed by the celestial messenger, felt immense joy. He embraced his son with great happiness.'' ॥ 1-69-37 ॥

मूर्ध्नि चैनम उपाघ्राय सस्नेहं परिषस्वजे सभाज्यमानॊ विप्रैश च सतूयमानश च बन्दिभिः स मुदं परमां लेभे पुत्र संस्पर्शजां नृपः ॥ १-६९-३८ ॥
'Having affectionately smelled his head and embraced him with love, and being praised by the Brahmins and extolled by the bards, the king experienced supreme joy from the touch of his son.' ॥ 1-69-38 ॥

तां चैव भार्यां धर्मज्ञः पूजयाम आस धर्मतः अब्रवीच चैव तां राजा सान्त्वपूर्वम इदं वचः ॥ १-६९-३९ ॥
'And the Brahmanas began to utter blessings upon him and the bards began to applaud him.' ॥ 1-69-39 ॥

कृतॊ लॊकपरॊक्षॊ ऽयं संबन्धॊ वै तवया सह तस्माद एतन मया देवि तवच छुद्ध्य अर्थं विचारितम ॥ १-६९-४० ॥
'Then the monarch was filled with immense joy, the kind that comes from the touch of one's son. Dushmanta warmly welcomed his wife, comforting her with affectionate words.' ॥ 1-69-40 ॥
