मन्यते चैव लॊकस ते सत्रीभावान मयि संगतम पुत्रश चायं वृतॊ राज्ये मया तस्माद विचारितम ॥ १-६९-४१ ॥

'The world thinks your womanhood has found its fulfillment in me. This son has been accepted by me for the realm; therefore, I have deliberated thus.' ॥ 1-69-41 ॥

english translation

यच च कॊपितयात्यर्थं तवयॊक्तॊ ऽसम्य अप्रियं परिये परणयिन्या विशालाक्षि तत कषान्तं ते मया शुभे ॥ १-६९-४२ ॥

'Dearest, each harsh word spoken in your anger, O one with large eyes, has been forgiven by me, O auspicious one.' ॥ 1-69-42 ॥

english translation

ताम एवम उक्त्वा राजर्षिर दुःषन्तॊ महिषीं परियाम वासॊभिर अन्नपानैश च पूजयाम आस भारत ॥ १-६९-४३ ॥

'"You are my dearest!" Thus, the royal sage Dushmanta affectionately addressed his beloved wife. O descendant of Bharata, he welcomed her with offerings of perfumes, food, and drink.' ॥ 1-69-43 ॥

english translation

दुःषन्तश च ततॊ राजा पुत्रं शाकुन्तलं तदा भरतं नामतः कृत्वा यौवराज्ये ऽभयषेचयत ॥ १-६९-४४ ॥

'At that moment, King Dushmanta bestowed the name Bharata upon his child and officially declared him as the heir apparent.' ॥ 1-69-44 ॥

english translation

तस्य तत परथितं चक्रं परावर्तत महात्मनः भास्वरं दिव्यम अजितं लॊकसंनादनं महत ॥ १-६९-४५ ॥

'The renowned and radiant wheels of Bharata's chariot, unparalleled and akin to those of divine chariots, rolled across all lands, their clamor resonating through the Earth.' ॥ 1-69-45 ॥
