स विजित्य महीपालांश चकार वशवर्तिनः चकार च सतां धर्मं पराप चानुत्तमं यशः ॥ १-६९-४६ ॥

'He, having conquered the kings of the earth, made them vassals. He established righteousness among the virtuous and attained unparalleled fame.' ॥ 1-69-46 ॥

english translation

sa vijitya mahIpAlAMza cakAra vazavartinaH cakAra ca satAM dharmaM parApa cAnuttamaM yazaH ॥ 1-69-46 ॥

स राजा चक्रवर्त्य आसीत सार्वभौमः परतापवान ईजे च बहुभिर यज्ञैर यथा शक्रॊ मरुत्पतिः ॥ १-६९-४७ ॥

'Thus, that king became an emperor, the sovereign ruler of all, mighty and renowned. He performed numerous sacrifices just as Indra, the lord of the Maruts, does.' ॥ 1-69-47 ॥

english translation

sa rAjA cakravartya AsIta sArvabhaumaH paratApavAna Ije ca bahubhira yajJaira yathA zakrò marutpatiH ॥ 1-69-47 ॥

याजयाम आस तं कण्वॊ दक्षवद भूरिदक्षिणम शरीमान गॊविततं नाम वाजिमेधम अवाप सः यस्मिन सहस्रं पद्मानां कण्वाय भरतॊ ददौ ॥ १-६९-४८ ॥

'And Kanwa was the chief priest at those sacrifices, in which the offerings to Brahmanas were great. And the blessed monarch performed both the cow and the horse-sacrifices. And Bharata gave unto Kanwa a thousand gold coins as the sacerdotal fee.' ॥ 1-69-48 ॥

english translation

yAjayAma Asa taM kaNvò dakSavada bhUridakSiNama zarImAna gòvitataM nAma vAjimedhama avApa saH yasmina sahasraM padmAnAM kaNvAya bharatò dadau ॥ 1-69-48 ॥

भरताद भारती कीर्तिर येनेदं भारतं कुलम अपरे ये च पूर्वे च भारता इति विश्रुताः ॥ १-६९-४९ ॥

'It is that Bharata from whom have emanated so many mighty achievements. It is from him that the great race called after him in his race are called after him.' ॥ 1-69-49 ॥

english translation

bharatAda bhAratI kIrtira yenedaM bhArataM kulama apare ye ca pUrve ca bhAratA iti vizrutAH ॥ 1-69-49 ॥

भरतस्यान्ववाये हि देवकल्पा महौजसः बभूवुर बरह्मकल्पाश च बहवॊ राजसत्तमः ॥ १-६९-५० ॥

'And in the Bharata race, there have been born many godlike monarchs gifted with great energy, and like unto Brahman himself.' ॥ 1-69-50 ॥

bharatasyAnvavAye hi devakalpA mahaujasaH babhUvura barahmakalpAza ca bahavò rAjasattamaH ॥ 1-69-50 ॥
