नारीणां चिरवासॊ हि बान्धवेषु न रॊचते कीर्तिचारित्रधर्मघ्नस तस्मान नयत माचिरम ।। १-६८-११ ।।

sanskrit

'It is inadvisable for women to extend their stay in the homes of either paternal or maternal relatives, as such a prolonged residence poses a threat to their reputation, conduct, and virtue.' ।। 1-68-11 ।।

english translation

nArINAM ciravAsò hi bAndhaveSu na ròcate kIrticAritradharmaghnasa tasmAna nayata mAcirama || 1-68-11 ||

'Therefore, delay not in bearing her hence.' These disciples of the Rishi thereupon, saying 'So be it,' went towards the city named after an elephant (Hastinapura) with Sakuntala and her son ahead of them.' ।। 1-68-12 ।।

'After the sage's disciples had escorted her in, they went back to the hermitage. Shakuntala, having duly honored the king, presented her son to him, saying, "This is your son, O King! I urge you to inaugurate him as your heir-apparent."' ।। 1-68-15 ।।
