नारीणां चिरवासॊ हि बान्धवेषु न रॊचते कीर्तिचारित्रधर्मघ्नस तस्मान नयत माचिरम ॥ १-६८-११ ॥

'It is inadvisable for women to extend their stay in the homes of either paternal or maternal relatives, as such a prolonged residence poses a threat to their reputation, conduct, and virtue.' ॥ 1-68-11 ॥

english translation

तथेत्य उक्त्वा तु ते सर्वे परातिष्ठन्तामितौजसः शकुन्तलां पुरस्कृत्य सपुत्रां गजसाह्वयम ॥ १-६८-१२ ॥

'Therefore, delay not in bearing her hence.' These disciples of the Rishi thereupon, saying 'So be it,' went towards the city named after an elephant (Hastinapura) with Sakuntala and her son ahead of them.' ॥ 1-68-12 ॥

english translation

गृहीत्वामर गर्भाभं पुत्रं कमललॊचनम आजगाम ततः शुभ्रा दुःषन्त विदिताद वनात ॥ १-६८-१३ ॥

'And then she of fair eye-brows, taking with her that boy of celestial beauty, endued with eyes like lotus petals, left the woods where she had been first known by Dushmanta.' ॥ 1-68-13 ॥

english translation

अभिसृत्य च राजानं विदिता सा परवेशिता सह तेनैव पुत्रेण तरुणादित्यवर्चसा ॥ १-६८-१४ ॥

'And having approached the king, she with her boy resembling in splendor the rising sun was introduced to him.' ॥ 1-68-14 ॥

english translation

पूजयित्वा यथान्यायम अब्रवीत तं शकुन्तला अयं पुत्रस तवया राजन यौव राज्ये ऽभिषिच्यताम ॥ १-६८-१५ ॥

'After the sage's disciples had escorted her in, they went back to the hermitage. Shakuntala, having duly honored the king, presented her son to him, saying, "This is your son, O King! I urge you to inaugurate him as your heir-apparent."' ॥ 1-68-15 ॥
