वसॊः पत्नी तु गिरिका कामात काले नयवेदयत ऋतुकालम अनुप्राप्तं सनाता पुंसवने शुचिः ॥ १-५७-३६ ॥
'And Girika, the wife of Vasu, after her menstrual course, purifying herself by a bath, represented her state unto her lord.' ॥ 1-57-36 ॥
english translation
vasòH patnI tu girikA kAmAta kAle nayavedayata RtukAlama anuprAptaM sanAtA puMsavane zuciH ॥ 1-57-36 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतद अहः पितरश चैनम ऊचुर जहि मृगान इति तं राजसत्तमं परीतास तदा मतिमतां वरम ॥ १-५७-३७ ॥
'But that very day the Pitris of Vasu came unto that best of monarchs and foremost of wise men, and asked him to slay deer (for their Sraddha).' ॥ 1-57-37 ॥
english translation
tada ahaH pitaraza cainama Ucura jahi mRgAna iti taM rAjasattamaM parItAsa tadA matimatAM varama ॥ 1-57-37 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptस पितॄणां नियॊगं तम अव्यतिक्रम्य पार्थिवः चचार मृगयां कामी गिरिकाम एव संस्मरन अतीव रूपसंपन्नां साक्षाच छरियम इवापराम ॥ १-५७-३८ ॥
'And the king, thinking that the command of the Pitris should not be disobeyed, went a-hunting thinking of Girika alone who was gifted with great beauty and like unto another Sri herself.' ॥ 1-57-38 ॥
english translation
sa pitRRNAM niyògaM tama avyatikramya pArthivaH cacAra mRgayAM kAmI girikAma eva saMsmarana atIva rUpasaMpannAM sAkSAca chariyama ivAparAma ॥ 1-57-38 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतस्य रेतः परचस्कन्द चरतॊ रुचिरे वने सकन्न मात्रं च तद रेतॊ वृक्षपत्रेण भूमिपः ॥ १-५७-३९ ॥
'While roaming in the beautiful forest during the spring season, his semen was discharged. The woods, where the king was wandering, had become delightful, resembling the gardens of the king of the Gandharvas himself. Subsequently, by a tree leaf, the king's son covered it.' ॥ 1-57-39 ॥
english translation
tasya retaH paracaskanda caratò rucire vane sakanna mAtraM ca tada retò vRkSapatreNa bhUmipaH ॥ 1-57-39 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptपरतिजग्राह मिथ्या मे न सकंदेद रेत इत्य उत ऋतुश च तस्या पत्न्या मे न मॊघः सयाद इति परभुः ॥ १-५७-४० ॥
'The king pondered, 'I cannot falsely discharge my semen,' while his wife assured him, 'The season is not in vain for me.' With these thoughts, the discerning monarch made his decision.' ॥ 1-57-40 ॥

paratijagrAha mithyA me na sakaMdeda reta itya uta Rtuza ca tasyA patnyA me na mòghaH sayAda iti parabhuH ॥ 1-57-40 ॥
