वसन्तम इन्द्र परासादे आकाशे सफाटिके च तम उपतस्थुर महात्मानं गन्धर्वाप्सरसॊ नृपम राजॊपरिचरेत्य एवं नाम तस्याथ विश्रुतम ॥ १-५७-३१ ॥
'And when King Vasu took his seat in that crystal car, with the gift of Indra, and coursed through the sky, he was approached by Gandharvas and Apsaras (the celestial singers and dancers). And as he coursed through the upper regions, he was called Uparichara.' ॥ 1-57-31 ॥
english translation
vasantama indra parAsAde AkAze saphATike ca tama upatasthura mahAtmAnaM gandharvApsarasò nRpama rAjòparicaretya evaM nAma tasyAtha vizrutama ॥ 1-57-31 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptपुरॊपवाहिनीं तस्य नदीं शुक्तिमतीं गिरिः अरौत्सीच चेतना युक्तः कामात कॊलाहलः किल ॥ १-५७-३२ ॥
'And by his capital flowed a river called Suktimati. And that river was once attacked by a life-endued mountain called Kolahala maddened by lust.' ॥ 1-57-32 ॥
english translation
puròpavAhinIM tasya nadIM zuktimatIM giriH arautsIca cetanA yuktaH kAmAta kòlAhalaH kila ॥ 1-57-32 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptगिरिं कॊलाहलं तं तु पदा वसुर अताडयत निश्चक्राम नदी तेन परहार विवरेण सा ॥ १-५७-३३ ॥
'And Vasu, beholding the foul attempt, struck the mountain with his foot. And by the indentation caused by Vasu's stamp, the river came out (of the embraces of Kolahala).' ॥ 1-57-33 ॥
english translation
giriM kòlAhalaM taM tu padA vasura atADayata nizcakrAma nadI tena parahAra vivareNa sA ॥ 1-57-33 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतस्यां नद्याम अजनयन मिथुनं पर्वतः सवयम तस्माद विमॊक्षणात परीता नदी राज्ञे नयवेदयत ॥ १-५७-३४ ॥
'But the mountain begat on the river two children that were twins. And the river, grateful to Vasu for his having set her free from Kolahala's embraces, gave them both to Vasu.' ॥ 1-57-34 ॥
english translation
tasyAM nadyAma ajanayana mithunaM parvataH savayama tasmAda vimòkSaNAta parItA nadI rAjJe nayavedayata ॥ 1-57-34 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptयः पुमान अभवत तत्र तं स राजर्षिसत्तमः वसुर वसु परदश चक्रे सेनापतिम अरिंदमम चकार पत्नीं कन्यां तु दयितां गिरिकां नृपः ॥ १-५७-३५ ॥
'And the son was made the generalissimo to his forces by Vasu, that best of royal sages and giver of wealth and punisher of enemies. And the daughter called Girika, was wedded by Vasu.' ॥ 1-57-35 ॥

yaH pumAna abhavata tatra taM sa rAjarSisattamaH vasura vasu paradaza cakre senApatima ariMdamama cakAra patnIM kanyAM tu dayitAM girikAM nRpaH ॥ 1-57-35 ॥
