ते तं परसादयाम आसुर देवाः सर्वे पितामहम राज्ञा वासुकिना सार्धं स शापॊ न भवेद इति ॥ १-४९-११ ॥

'All the gods, accompanied by King Vasuki, endeavored to appease the one born of the lotus, seeking his favor to nullify the impending curse.' ॥ 1-49-11 ॥

english translation

te taM parasAdayAma Asura devAH sarve pitAmahama rAjJA vAsukinA sArdhaM sa zApò na bhaveda iti ॥ 1-49-11 ॥

वासुकिर नागराजॊ ऽयं दुःखितॊ जञातिकारणात अभिशापः स मात्रास्य भगवन न भवेद इति ॥ १-४९-१२ ॥

'And the gods said, 'O Lord, Vasuki, the king of the snakes, is sorry on account of his relatives. How may his mother's curse prove abortive?' ॥ 1-49-12 ॥

english translation

vAsukira nAgarAjò 'yaM duHkhitò jaJAtikAraNAta abhizApaH sa mAtrAsya bhagavana na bhaveda iti ॥ 1-49-12 ॥

[बर] जरत्कारुर जरत्कारुं यां भार्यां समवाप्स्यति तत्र जातॊ दविजः शापाद भुजगान मॊक्षयिष्यति ॥ १-४९-१३ ॥

'Brahman thereupon replied, saying, 'Jaratkaru will take unto himself a wife of the name of Jaratkaru; the Brahmana born of her will relieve the snakes.' ॥ 1-49-13 ॥

[bara] jaratkArura jaratkAruM yAM bhAryAM samavApsyati tatra jAtò davijaH zApAda bhujagAna mòkSayiSyati ॥ 1-49-13 ॥

[ज] एतच छरुत्वा तु वचनं वासुकिः पन्नगेश्वरः परादान माम अमरप्रख्य तव पित्रे महात्मने पराग एवानागते काले तत्र तवं मय्य अजायथाः ॥ १-४९-१४ ॥

'Vasuki, the supreme serpent, upon hearing those words, had given me to your noble father, O one with divine radiance, before the initiation of the sacrifice. It is through that union that you are born from me.' ॥ 1-49-14 ॥

[ja] etaca charutvA tu vacanaM vAsukiH pannagezvaraH parAdAna mAma amaraprakhya tava pitre mahAtmane parAga evAnAgate kAle tatra tavaM mayya ajAyathAH ॥ 1-49-14 ॥

अयं स कालः संप्राप्तॊ भयान नस तरातुम अर्हसि भरातरं चैव मे तस्मात तरातुम अर्हसि पावकात ॥ १-४९-१५ ॥

'The time has arrived. You must shield us from this peril. Please safeguard my brother and me from the fire.' ॥ 1-49-15 ॥

ayaM sa kAlaH saMprAptò bhayAna nasa tarAtuma arhasi bharAtaraM caiva me tasmAta tarAtuma arhasi pAvakAta ॥ 1-49-15 ॥
