बाष्पगद्गदया वाचा मुखेन परिशुष्यता कृताञ्जलिर वरारॊहा पर्यश्रुनयना ततः धैर्यम आलम्ब्य वामॊरुर हृदयेन परवेपता ॥ १-४३-३१ ॥
'Her voice choked with tears, she, with folded hands, having her eyes dried up due to continuous weeping, and with her left thigh supporting her, fell down in great distress, her heart overwhelmed with sorrow.' ॥ 1-43-31 ॥
english translation
न माम अर्हसि धर्मज्ञ परित्यक्तुम अनागसम धर्मे सथितां सथितॊ धर्मे सदा परियहिते रताम ॥ १-४३-३२ ॥
'She responded, "It is not fitting for you to forsake me without reason. You walk the path of virtue, and I too have trodden the same path, with my heart devoted to the welfare of my kin."' ॥ 1-43-32 ॥
english translation
परदाने कारणं यच च मम तुभ्यं दविजॊत्तम तद अलब्धवतीं मन्दां किं मां वक्ष्यति वासुखिः ॥ १-४३-३३ ॥
'O best of Brahmins, the purpose for which I was given to you has not been fulfilled. Alas, unfortunate as I am, what explanation shall Vasuki offer to me?' ॥ 1-43-33 ॥
english translation
मातृशापाभिभूतानां जञातीनां मम सत्तम अपत्यम ईप्षितं तवत्तस तच च तावन न दृश्यते ॥ १-४३-३४ ॥
'O noble one, the anticipated offspring, sought by my relatives burdened with a mother's curse, has not yet manifested!' ॥ 1-43-34 ॥
english translation
तवत्तॊ हय अपत्यलाभेन जञातीनां मे शिवं भवेत संप्रयॊगॊ भवेन नायं मम मॊघस तवया दविज ॥ १-४३-३५ ॥
'The well-being of my relatives relies on the acquisition of offspring from you. In order to ensure that my connection with you is not in vain, O illustrious Brahmana, driven by the desire to benefit my lineage, I earnestly entreat you.' ॥ 1-43-35 ॥
