यानि भूतानि सन्तीह सथावराणि चराणि च अन्तर्हितानि वा यानि तानि शृण्वन्तु मे वचः ॥ १-४२-११ ॥

'Having entered the forest, the wise sage, driven by the intention of benefiting his ancestors, proclaimed, "I shall seek a bride," articulating these words thrice. He continued, "May all living beings, both mobile and immobile, and those that are unseen, hear my words."' ॥ 1-42-11 ॥

yAni bhUtAni santIha sathAvarANi carANi ca antarhitAni vA yAni tAni zRNvantu me vacaH ॥ 1-42-11 ॥

उग्रे तपसि वर्तन्तं पितरश चॊदयन्ति माम निविशस्वेति दुःखार्तास तेषां परियचिकीर्षया ॥ १-४२-१२ ॥

'My ancestors, distressed with sorrow, urge me, who is engaged in severe austerity, saying, 'O Jaratkaru, enter into a house.' With the desire to fulfill their wish, I am seeking a bride.' ॥ 1-42-12 ॥

ugre tapasi vartantaM pitaraza còdayanti mAma nivizasveti duHkhArtAsa teSAM pariyacikIrSayA ॥ 1-42-12 ॥

निवेशार्थ्य अखिलां भूमिं कन्या भैक्षं चरामि भॊः दरिद्रॊ दुःखशीलश च पितृभिः संनियॊजितः ॥ १-४२-१३ ॥

'O beings, guided by the instructions of my ancestors, I traverse the vast world in poverty and sorrow, seeking a maiden to wed, as if searching for alms.' ॥ 1-42-13 ॥

यस्य कन्यास्ति भूतस्य ये मयेह परकीर्तिताः ते मे कन्यां परयच्छन्तु चरतः सर्वतॊदिशम ॥ १-४२-१४ ॥

'May any being among those I have addressed, who possesses a daughter, graciously bestow her upon me as I wander far and wide.' ॥ 1-42-14 ॥

मम कन्या सनाम्नी या भैक्षवच चॊद्यता भवेत भरेयं चैव यां नाहं तां मे कन्यां परयच्छत ॥ १-४२-१५ ॥

'I seek a bride with the same name as mine, to be given to me as alms, and whom, furthermore, I shall not maintain. O, bestow her upon me!' ॥ 1-42-15 ॥
