हिरण्मयौ शकुनी साम्परायौ; नासत्य दस्रौ सुनसौ वैजयन्तौ शुक्रं वयन्तौ तरसा सुवेमाव; अभि वययन्ताव असितं विवस्वत ।। १-३-६१ ।।

sanskrit

'Ye have existed before the creation! Ye first-born beings, ye are displayed in this wondrous universe of five elements! I desire to obtain you by the help of the knowledge derived from hearing, and of meditation, for ye are Infinite! Ye are the course itself of Nature and intelligent Soul that pervades that course! Ye are birds of beauteous feathers perched on the body that is like a tree! Ye are without the three common attributes of every soul! Ye are incomparable! Ye, through your spirit in every created thing, pervade the Universe!' ।। 1-3-61 ।।

english translation

hiraNmayau zakunI sAmparAyau; nAsatya dasrau sunasau vaijayantau zukraM vayantau tarasA suvemAva; abhi vayayantAva asitaM vivasvata || 1-3-61 ||

गरस्तां सुपर्णस्य बलेन वर्तिकाम; अमुञ्चताम अश्विनौ सौभगाय तावत सुवृत्ताव अनमन्त मायया; सत्तमा गा अरुणा उदावहन ।। १-३-६२ ।।

'You are the golden Eagles, embodying the essence where all things merge, untouched by error or decay. With beauteous beaks, you triumph in every encounter, prevailing over time itself. Crafting the sun and weaving the fabric of the year with day's white thread and night's black thread, you establish destinies for Devas and Pitris. You liberate the bird of Life from Time's grasp, bringing great happiness. Though some, lost in ignorance, perceive you with form, you transcend material attributes!' ।। 1-3-62 ।।

garastAM suparNasya balena vartikAma; amuJcatAma azvinau saubhagAya tAvata suvRttAva anamanta mAyayA; sattamA gA aruNA udAvahana || 1-3-62 ||

'The year, symbolized as a calf from 360 days and cows, becomes the creator and destroyer, offering true knowledge to seekers on diverse paths. O Aswins, you are the creators of this cosmic calf!' ।। 1-3-63 ।।

'The year is but the nave of a wheel to which is attached seven hundred and twenty spokes representing as many days and nights. The circumference of this wheel represented by twelve months is without end. ' ।। 1-3-64 ।।

'This wheel is full of delusions and knows no deterioration. It affects all creatures whether to this or of the other worlds. Ye Aswins, this wheel of time is set in motion by you!' ।। 1-3-65 ।।

ekaM cakraM vartate davAdazAraM; paradhi SaNa NAbhima ekAkSama amRtasya dhAraNama yasmina devA adhi vizve viSaktAsa; tAva azvinau muJcatò mA viSIdatama || 1-3-65 ||
