तम उपाध्यायः परत्युवाच कथम असि कूपे पतित इति ॥ १-३-५६ ॥
'The teacher replied, "How did you fall into the well?"' ॥ 1-3-56 ॥
english translation
स तं परत्युवाच अर्कपत्राणि भक्षयित्वान्धी भूतॊ ऽसमि अतः कूपे पतित इति ॥ १-३-५७ ॥
'Upamanyu replied, 'Having eaten of the leaves of the Arka plant I became blind, and so have I fallen into this well.' ॥ 1-3-57 ॥
english translation
तम उपाध्यायः परत्युवाच अश्विनौ सतुहि तौ तवां चक्षुष्मन्तं करिष्यतॊ देव भिषजाव इति ॥ १-३-५८ ॥
'And his preceptor thereupon told him, 'Glorify the twin Aswins, the joint physicians of the gods, and they will restore thee thy sight.' ॥ 1-3-58 ॥

स एवम उक्त उपाध्यायेन सतॊतुं परचक्रमे देवाव अश्विनौ वाग्भिर ऋग्भिः ॥ १-३-५९ ॥
'Having been thus instructed by the teacher, Upamanyu set forth to invoke the divine Ashvins with hymns from the Rigveda.' ॥ 1-3-59 ॥

परपूर्वगौ पूर्वजौ चित्रभानू; गिरा वा शंसामि तपनाव अनन्तौ दिव्यौ सुपर्णौ विरजौ विमानाव; अधिक्षियन्तौ भुवनानि विश्वा ॥ १-३-६० ॥
'You, the primordial beings, predate creation! Your essence is revealed in this miraculous cosmos composed of five elements! I aspire to attain you through the wisdom gained from attentive learning and contemplation, for you are boundless. You represent the very essence of Nature and the intelligent Soul that encompasses its entirety. Like beautiful-feathered birds resting on a tree-like body, you transcend the three common attributes of every soul. Your uniqueness is unparalleled. Through your essence, you permeate the universe, touching every created entity with your spirit.' ॥ 1-3-60 ॥
