[नारद] जित्वा तु पृथिवीं दैत्यौ निःसपत्नौ गतव्यथौ कृत्वा तरैलॊक्यम अव्यग्रं कृतकृत्यौ बभूवतुः ।। १-२०४-१ ।।

sanskrit

'Narada continued, "Meanwhile, the Asura brothers, having conquered the earth and subdued all rivals, felt no fatigue from their efforts. With the three worlds under their equal control, they considered themselves as having nothing left to achieve."' ।। 1-204-1 ।।

english translation

[nArada] jitvA tu pRthivIM daityau niHsapatnau gatavyathau kRtvA tarailòkyama avyagraM kRtakRtyau babhUvatuH || 1-204-1 ||

hk transliteration

देवगन्धर्वयक्षाणां नागपार्थिव रक्षसाम आदाय सर्वरत्नानि परां तुष्टिम उपागतौ ।। १-२०४-२ ।।

sanskrit

'Having gathered the treasures of the gods, Gandharvas, Yakshas, Nagas, Rakshasas, and earthly kings, the brothers began to spend their days in great happiness.' ।। 1-204-2 ।।

english translation

devagandharvayakSANAM nAgapArthiva rakSasAma AdAya sarvaratnAni parAM tuSTima upAgatau || 1-204-2 ||

hk transliteration

यदा न परतिषेद्धारस तयॊः सन्तीह के चन निरुद्यॊगौ तदा भूत्वा विजह्राते ऽमराव इव ।। १-२०४-३ ।।

sanskrit

'Realizing they had no rivals in the three worlds, they abandoned all effort and indulged in pleasure and merriment, akin to the celestial beings.' ।। 1-204-3 ।।

english translation

yadA na paratiSeddhArasa tayòH santIha ke cana nirudyògau tadA bhUtvA vijahrAte 'marAva iva || 1-204-3 ||

hk transliteration

सत्रीभिर माल्यैश च गन्धैश च भक्षैर भॊज्यैश च पुष्कलैः पानैश च विविधैर हृद्यैः परां परीतिम अवापतुः ।। १-२०४-४ ।।

sanskrit

'They found immense joy in indulging in every kind of pleasure: with women, perfumes, floral wreaths, sumptuous foods, drinks, and various other delightful objects in abundance.' ।। 1-204-4 ।।

english translation

satrIbhira mAlyaiza ca gandhaiza ca bhakSaira bhòjyaiza ca puSkalaiH pAnaiza ca vividhaira hRdyaiH parAM parItima avApatuH || 1-204-4 ||

hk transliteration

अन्तःपुरे वनॊद्याने पर्वतॊपवनेषु च यथेप्सितेषु देशेषु विजह्राते ऽमराव इव ।। १-२०४-५ ।।

sanskrit

'In houses and woods and gardens, on hills and in forests, wherever they liked they passed their time in pleasure and amusement, like the immortals.' ।। 1-204-5 ।।
