[वै] ततॊ वयासः परमॊदारकर्मा; शुचिर विप्रस तपसा तस्य राज्ञः चक्रुर दिव्यं परददौ तान स सर्वान; राजापश्यत पूर्वदेहैर यथावत ।। १-१८९-३६ ।।

sanskrit

'Continuing, Vaisampayana said, 'Thus, that sacred Brahmana Vyasa of generous deeds, through his ascetic power, bestowed celestial sight upon the king. Then the king beheld all the Pandavas endowed with their former celestial bodies.' ।। 1-189-36 ।।

english translation

[vai] tatò vayAsaH paramòdArakarmA; zucira viprasa tapasA tasya rAjJaH cakrura divyaM paradadau tAna sa sarvAna; rAjApazyata pUrvadehaira yathAvata || 1-189-36 ||

ततॊ दिव्यान हेमकिरीट मालिनः; शक्र परख्यान पावकादित्यवर्णान बद्धापीढांश चारुरूपांश च यूनॊ; वयूढॊरस्कांस तालमात्रान ददर्श ।। १-१८९-३७ ।।

sanskrit

'The king beheld them with celestial bodies adorned in golden crowns and divine garlands, each resembling Indra himself, their complexions radiant like fire or the sun. They were adorned with every ornament, youthful and handsome, with broad chests and statures measuring about five cubits.' ।। 1-189-37 ।।

english translation

tatò divyAna hemakirITa mAlinaH; zakra parakhyAna pAvakAdityavarNAna baddhApIDhAMza cArurUpAMza ca yUnò; vayUDhòraskAMsa tAlamAtrAna dadarza || 1-189-37 ||

दिव्यैर वस्त्रैर अरजॊभिः सुवर्णैर; माल्यैश चाग्र्यैः शॊभमानान अतीव साक्षात तर्यक्षान वसवॊ वाथ दिव्यान; आदित्यान वा सर्वगुणॊपपन्नान तान पूर्वेन्द्रान एवम ईक्ष्याभिरूपान; परीतॊ राजा दरुपदॊ विस्मितश च ।। १-१८९-३८ ।।

'Endowed with every virtue, adorned in celestial robes of exquisite beauty and fragrant garlands of excellent craftsmanship, the king beheld them resembling three-eyed gods like Mahadeva, or the Vasus, Rudras, or even the Adityas themselves. Observing the Pandavas in the forms of those ancient Indras, and seeing Arjuna resembling Indra sprung from Sakra himself, King Drupada was greatly pleased.' ।। 1-189-38 ।।

divyaira vastraira arajòbhiH suvarNaira; mAlyaiza cAgryaiH zòbhamAnAna atIva sAkSAta taryakSAna vasavò vAtha divyAna; AdityAna vA sarvaguNòpapannAna tAna pUrvendrAna evama IkSyAbhirUpAna; parItò rAjA darupadò vismitaza ca || 1-189-38 ||

दिव्यां मायां ताम अवाप्याप्रमेयां; तां चैवाग्र्यां शरियम इव रूपिणीं च यॊग्यां तेषां रूपतेजॊ यशॊभिः; पत्नीम ऋद्धां दृष्टवान पार्थिवेन्द्रः ।। १-१८९-३९ ।।

sanskrit

'The monarch was greatly astonished upon witnessing that display of celestial power veiled in profound disguise. As the king gazed upon his daughter, the foremost among women, endowed with immense beauty akin to a celestial maiden and radiating the brilliance of fire or the moon, he considered her a suitable match for those celestial beings, impressed by her beauty, splendor, and renown.' ।। 1-189-39 ।।

english translation

divyAM mAyAM tAma avApyAprameyAM; tAM caivAgryAM zariyama iva rUpiNIM ca yògyAM teSAM rUpatejò yazòbhiH; patnIma RddhAM dRSTavAna pArthivendraH || 1-189-39 ||

स तद दृष्ट्वा महद आश्चर्यरूपं; जग्राह पादौ सत्यवत्याः सुतस्य नैतच चित्रं परमर्षे तवयीति; परसन्नचेताः स उवाच चैनम ।। १-१८९-४० ।।

sanskrit

'And beholding that wondrous sight, the monarch touched the feet of Satyavati's son, exclaiming, "O great Rishi, nothing is miraculous in you!"' ।। 1-189-40 ।।

sa tada dRSTvA mahada AzcaryarUpaM; jagrAha pAdau satyavatyAH sutasya naitaca citraM paramarSe tavayIti; parasannacetAH sa uvAca cainama || 1-189-40 ||
