[दूत] जन्यार्थम अन्नं दरुपदेन राज्ञा; विवाह हेतॊर उपसंस्कृतं च तद आप्नुवध्वं कृतसर्वकार्याः; कृष्णा च तत्रैव चिरं न कार्यम ।। १-१८६-१ ।।

sanskrit

'Vaisampayana continued, 'The messenger said, 'King Drupada has prepared a sumptuous feast in honor of his daughter's nuptials. After completing your daily rituals, come without delay to partake in it. Krishna's wedding will also be solemnized there. Waste no time.'' ।। 1-186-1 ।।

english translation

[dUta] janyArthama annaM darupadena rAjJA; vivAha hetòra upasaMskRtaM ca tada ApnuvadhvaM kRtasarvakAryAH; kRSNA ca tatraiva ciraM na kAryama || 1-186-1 ||

hk transliteration

इमे रथाः काञ्चनपद्मचित्राः; सदश्वयुक्ता वसुधाधिपार्हाः एतान समारुह्य परैत सर्वे; पाञ्चालराजस्य निवेशनं तत ।। १-१८६-२ ।।

sanskrit

'These chariots, adorned with golden lotuses and pulled by excellent horses fit for royalty, are worthy of kings. Ride in them and come into the palace of the King of the Panchalas.' ।। 1-186-2 ।।

english translation

ime rathAH kAJcanapadmacitrAH; sadazvayuktA vasudhAdhipArhAH etAna samAruhya paraita sarve; pAJcAlarAjasya nivezanaM tata || 1-186-2 ||

[वै] ततः परयाताः कुरुपुंगवास ते; पुरॊहितं तं परथमं परयाप्य आस्थाय यानानि महान्ति तानि; कुन्ती च कृष्णा च सहैव याते ।। १-१८६-३ ।।

sanskrit

'Vaisampayana continued, 'Then those stalwarts among the Kurus dismissed the priest and had Kunti and Krishna ride together in one of those chariots. They themselves ascended those magnificent vehicles and proceeded towards Drupada's residence.'' ।। 1-186-3 ।।

english translation

[vai] tataH parayAtAH kurupuMgavAsa te; puròhitaM taM parathamaM parayApya AsthAya yAnAni mahAnti tAni; kuntI ca kRSNA ca sahaiva yAte || 1-186-3 ||

शरुत्वा तु वाक्यानि पुरॊहितस्य; यान्य उक्तवान भारत धर्मराजः जिज्ञासयैवाथ कुरूत्तमानां; दरव्याण्य अनेकान्य उपसंजहार ।। १-१८६-४ ।।

sanskrit

'Meanwhile, O Bharata, upon hearing from his priest the words spoken by Yudhishthira, King Drupada, seeking to determine the status of those heroes, prepared a large collection of items required by the customs for the weddings of each of the four social orders.' ।। 1-186-4 ।।

english translation

zarutvA tu vAkyAni puròhitasya; yAnya uktavAna bhArata dharmarAjaH jijJAsayaivAtha kurUttamAnAM; daravyANya anekAnya upasaMjahAra || 1-186-4 ||

फलानि माल्यानि सुसंस्कृतानि; चर्माणि वर्माणि तथासनानि गाश चैव राजन्न अथ चैव रज्जूर; दरव्याणि चान्यानि कृषी निमित्तम ।। १-१८६-५ ।।

sanskrit

'He kept ready fruits, sanctified garlands, coats of mail, shields, carpets, cows, seeds, and various other articles and implements for agriculture.' ।। 1-186-5 ।।

phalAni mAlyAni susaMskRtAni; carmANi varmANi tathAsanAni gAza caiva rAjanna atha caiva rajjUra; daravyANi cAnyAni kRSI nimittama || 1-186-5 ||
