अप्राप्य रूपां हि नरेन्द्र कन्याम; इमाम अहं बराह्मण साधु मन्ये न तद धनुर मन्दबलेन शक्यं; मौर्व्या समायॊजयितुं तथा हि न चाकृतास्त्रेण न हीनजेन; लक्ष्यं तथा पातयितुं हि शक्यम ॥ १-१८५-२६ ॥
'King Drupada's long-cherished desire for his beautiful princess, who bears every auspicious mark, will indeed be fulfilled. Only someone strong and accomplished in arms could string that bow, and only someone of noble birth and skill could have shot down the mark.' ॥ 1-185-26 ॥

तस्मान न तापं दुहितुर निमित्तं; पाञ्चालराजॊ ऽरहति कर्तुम अद्य न चापि तत पातनम अन्यथेह; कर्तुं विषह्यं भुवि मानवेन ॥ १-१८५-२७ ॥
'Therefore, it is not fitting for the king of the Panchalas to grieve for his daughter today. Nor can anyone in the world undo the act of shooting down the mark. Hence, the king should not lament over what must inevitably happen.' ॥ 1-185-27 ॥

एवं बरुवत्य एव युधिष्ठिरे तु; पाञ्चालराजस्य समीपतॊ ऽनयः तत्राजगामाशु नरॊ दवितीयॊ; निवेदयिष्यन्न इह सिद्धम अन्नम ॥ १-१८५-२८ ॥
'While Yudhishthira was speaking thus, another messenger from the king of the Panchalas swiftly approached and informed them, 'The nuptial feast is ready.' ॥ 1-185-28 ॥
