जानन्न अपि च यन पापं शक्तिमान न नियच्छति ईशः सन सॊ ऽपि तेनैव कर्मणा संप्रयुज्यते ॥ १-१७१-११ ॥
'When kings and others, capable of protecting my fathers, neglect that duty to indulge in the pleasures of life, I have valid reason to be enraged with them.' ॥ 1-171-11 ॥
english translation
राजभिश चेश्वरैश चैव यदि वै पितरॊ मम शक्तैर न शकिता तरातुम इष्टं मत्वेह जीवितुम ॥ १-१७१-१२ ॥
'If indeed by kings and lords, who are powerful, my forefathers were not able to be protected, having deemed it desirable to live here (on earth).' ॥ 1-171-12 ॥
english translation
अत एषाम अहं करुद्धॊ लॊकानाम ईश्वरॊ ऽदय सन भवतां तु वचॊ नाहम अलं समतिवर्तितुम ॥ १-१७१-१३ ॥
'I am the lord of creation, capable of punishing its injustice. I cannot comply with your command.' ॥ 1-171-13 ॥
english translation
मम चापि भवेद एतद ईश्वरस्य सतॊ महत उपेक्षमाणस्य पुनर लॊकानां किल्बिषाद भयम ॥ १-१७१-१४ ॥
'If I refrain from punishing this crime, people will once again suffer a similar persecution.' ॥ 1-171-14 ॥
english translation
यश चायं मन्युजॊ मे ऽगनिर लॊकान आदातुम इच्च्छति दहेद एष च माम एव निगृहीतः सवतेजसा ॥ १-१७१-१५ ॥
'If my fiery wrath, which is poised to consume the worlds, is suppressed, it will surely consume myself by its own force.' ॥ 1-171-15 ॥
