भवतां च विजानामि सर्वलॊकहितेप्सुताम तस्माद विदध्वं यच छरेयॊ लॊकानां मम चेश्वराः ॥ १-१७१-१६ ॥
'O masters, I know that you always seek the welfare of the worlds. Therefore, guide me on what would benefit both myself and the worlds.' ॥ 1-171-16 ॥
english translation
[पितरह] य एष मन्युजस ते ऽगनिर लॊकान आदातुम इच्छति अप्सु तं मुञ्च भद्रं ते लॊका हय अप्सु परतिष्ठिताः ॥ १-१७१-१७॥
'Vasishtha continued, 'The Pitris replied, saying, "O, cast away this fire born of your wrath, which desires to consume the worlds, into the waters.' ॥ 1-171-17 ॥
english translation
आपॊ मयाः सर्वरसाः सर्वम आपॊ मयं जगत तस्माद अप्सु विमुञ्चेमं करॊधाग्निं दविजसत्तम ॥ १-१७१-१८ ॥
'The worlds indeed depend on water as their fundamental cause. Every juicy substance contains water; indeed, the entire universe is composed of water. Therefore, O best of Brahmanas, cast away this fire of your wrath into the waters.' ॥ 1-171-18 ॥
english translation
अयं तिष्ठतु ते विप्र यदीच्छसि महॊदधौ मन्युजॊ ऽगनिर दहन्न आपॊ लॊका हय आपॊ मयाः समृताः ॥ १-१७१-१९ ॥
'If, therefore, O Brahmana, you wish it, let this fire born of your wrath abide in the great ocean, consuming its waters, for it is known that the worlds are made of water.' ॥ 1-171-19 ॥
english translation
एवं परतिज्ञां सत्येयं तवानघ भविष्यति न चैव सामरा लॊका गमिष्यन्ति पराभवम ॥ १-१७१-२० ॥
'In this manner, O sinless one, your word will be proven true, and the worlds along with the gods will not face destruction.' ॥ 1-171-20 ॥
