[वस] ततस तं करॊधजं तात और्वॊ ऽगनिं वरुणालये उत्ससर्ग स चैवाप उपयुङ्क्ते महॊदधौ ॥ १-१७१-२१ ॥

'Vasishtha continued, "Then, O child, Aurva cast the fire of his wrath into the abode of Varuna, which consumes the waters of the great ocean."' ॥ 1-171-21 ॥

english translation

[vasa] tatasa taM karòdhajaM tAta aurvò 'ganiM varuNAlaye utsasarga sa caivApa upayuGkte mahòdadhau ॥ 1-171-21 ॥

महद धय शिरॊ भूत्वा यत तद वेदविदॊ विदुः तम अङ्गिम उद्गिरन वक्त्रात पिबत्य आपॊ महॊदधौ ॥ १-१७१-२२ ॥

'It transformed into a vast horse's head known as Vadavamukha among those versed in the Vedas. Emitting from that mouth, it devours the waters of the vast ocean.' ॥ 1-171-22 ॥

english translation

mahada dhaya zirò bhUtvA yata tada vedavidò viduH tama aGgima udgirana vaktrAta pibatya Apò mahòdadhau ॥ 1-171-22 ॥

तस्मात तवम अपि भद्रं ते न लॊकान हन्तुम अर्हसि पराशर परान धर्माञ जानञ जञानवतां वर ॥ १-१७१-२३ ॥

'Blessed be you! Therefore, it is not proper for you to destroy the worlds, O Parasara, who is knowledgeable about the celestial realms, and foremost among the wise.' ॥ 1-171-23 ॥

tasmAta tavama api bhadraM te na lòkAna hantuma arhasi parAzara parAna dharmAJa jAnaJa jaJAnavatAM vara ॥ 1-171-23 ॥
