[ग] एवम उक्तः स विप्रर्षिर वसिष्ठेन महात्मना नययच्छद आत्मनः कॊपं सर्वलॊकपराभवात ॥ १-१७२-१ ॥
'The Gandharva continued, 'Thus addressed by the illustrious Vasishtha, the Brahmana sage Parasara restrained his wrath from destroying the worlds.' ॥ 1-172-1 ॥
english translation
[ga] evama uktaH sa viprarSira vasiSThena mahAtmanA nayayacchada AtmanaH kòpaM sarvalòkaparAbhavAta ॥ 1-172-1 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptईजे च स महातेजाः सर्ववेदविदां वरः ऋषी राक्षस सत्रेण शाक्तेयॊ ऽथ पराशरः ॥ १-१७२-२ ॥
'But the sage Parasara, endowed with great energy, the son of Shakti, and foremost among all who knew the Vedas, performed a grand Rakshasa sacrifice.' ॥ 1-172-2 ॥
english translation
Ije ca sa mahAtejAH sarvavedavidAM varaH RSI rAkSasa satreNa zAkteyò 'tha parAzaraH ॥ 1-172-2 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptततॊ वृद्धांश च बालांश च राक्षसान स महामुनिः ददाह वितते यज्ञे शक्तेर वधम अनुस्मरन ॥ १-१७२-३ ॥
'And recalling the slaying of his father Shakti, the great sage began to consume the Rakshasas, both young and old, in the sacrificial ritual he conducted.' ॥ 1-172-3 ॥
english translation
tatò vRddhAMza ca bAlAMza ca rAkSasAna sa mahAmuniH dadAha vitate yajJe zaktera vadhama anusmarana ॥ 1-172-3 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptन हि तं वारयाम आस वसिष्ठॊ रक्षसां वधात दवितीयाम अस्य मा भाङ्क्षं परतिजाम इति निश्चयात ॥ १-१७२-४ ॥
'And Vasishtha did not restrain him from slaughtering the Rakshasas, firmly resolved not to hinder his grandson's second vow.' ॥ 1-172-4 ॥
english translation
na hi taM vArayAma Asa vasiSThò rakSasAM vadhAta davitIyAma asya mA bhAGkSaM paratijAma iti nizcayAta ॥ 1-172-4 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतरयाणां पावकानां स सत्रे तस्मिन महामुनिः आसीत पुरस्ताद दीप्तानां चतुर्थ इव पावकः ॥ १-१७२-५ ॥
'In that sacrifice, the great sage Parasara sat before three blazing fires, appearing himself as a fourth fire.' ॥ 1-172-5 ॥

tarayANAM pAvakAnAM sa satre tasmina mahAmuniH AsIta purastAda dIptAnAM caturtha iva pAvakaH ॥ 1-172-5 ॥
