संप्राप्तयौवनां पश्यन देयां दुहितरं तु ताम नॊपलेभे ततः शान्तिं संप्रदानं विचिन्तयन ॥ १-१६०-११ ॥
'Witnessing his daughter reach the age of maturity, and thus ready to be given in marriage, her father found no peace of mind, constantly pondering over whom to choose as her husband.' ॥ 1-160-11 ॥

अर्थर्क्ष पुत्रः कौन्तेय कुरूणाम ऋषभॊ बली सूर्यम आराधयाम आस नृपः संवरणः सदा ॥ १-१६०-१२ ॥
'Artharva, the son of Kunti, a mighty bull among the Kurus, constantly worshipped the sun and was always engaged in protecting the people.' ॥ 1-160-12 ॥

अर्घ्य माल्यॊपहारैश च शश्वच च नृपतिर यतः नियमैर उपवासैश च तपॊभिर विविधैर अपि ॥ १-१६०-१३ ॥
'During that period, O son of Kunti, the powerful king Samvarana, the son of Riksha, and the foremost among the Kurus, was diligently worshiping the sun with offerings of Arghya, flower garlands, and fragrances, along with observing vows, fasts, and various kinds of ascetic penances.' ॥ 1-160-13 ॥

शुश्रूषुर अनहंवादी शुचिः पौरवनन्दनाः अंशुमन्तं समुद्यन्तं पूजयाम आस भक्तिमान ॥ १-१६०-१४ ॥
'Truly, Samvarana was consistently worshipping Surya, with devotion, humility, and piety.' ॥ 1-160-14 ॥

ततः कृतज्ञं धर्मज्ञं रूपेणासदृशं भुवि तपत्याः सदृशं मेने सूर्यः संवरणं पतिम ॥ १-१६०-१५ ॥
