तद अपश्यम अहं भरातुर असांप्रतम अनुव्रजन विमर्शं संकरादाने नायं कुर्यात कथं चन ॥ १-१५५-१६ ॥
'I witnessed my brother's action without intervening at that moment. Reflecting on whether to rectify it or not in the confusion of the moment.' ॥ 1-155-16 ॥

दृष्ट्वा फलस्य नापश्यद दॊषा ये ऽसयानुबन्धिकाः विविनक्ति न शौचं यः सॊ ऽनयत्रापि कथं भवेत ॥ १-१५५-१७ ॥
'Indeed, he harbors no qualms about accepting impure things. He saw no wrongdoing of a sinful nature in accepting that particular fruit. Truly, one who does not observe purity in one instance is unlikely to do so in others.' ॥ 1-155-17 ॥

संहिताध्ययनं कुर्वन वसन गुरु कुले च यः भैक्षम उच्छिष्टम अन्येषां भुङ्क्ते चापि सदा सदा कीर्तयन गुणम अन्नानाम अघृणी च पुनः पुनः ॥ १-१५५-१८ ॥
'When he resided in his preceptor's house, engrossed in studying the scriptures, he would always partake of leftover food from others' meals without hesitation. He always speaks favorably of food and harbors no aversion to anything.' ॥ 1-155-18 ॥

तम अहं फलार्थिनं मन्ये भरातरं तर्क चक्षुषा तं वै गच्छस्व नृपते स तवां संयाजयिष्यति ॥ १-१५५-१९ ॥
'Concluding these observations, I believe that my brother desires worldly possessions. Therefore, O king, go to him; he will perform spiritual ceremonies for you.' ॥ 1-155-19 ॥

जुगुप्समानॊ नृपतिर मनसेदं विचिन्तयन उपयाज वचः शरुत्वा नृपतिः सर्वधर्मवित अभिसंपूज्य पूजार्हम ऋषिं याजम उवाच ह ॥ १-१५५-२० ॥
'Upon hearing Upayaja's words, King Drupada, though holding a diminished opinion of Yaja, still went to his residence. Paying homage to Yaja, who was still deserving of reverence, Drupada said to him.' ॥ 1-155-20 ॥
