[भम] जञायताम अस्य यद दुःखं यतश चैव समुत्थितम विदिते वयवसिष्यामि यद्य अपि सयात सुदुष्करम ॥ १-१४५-१६ ॥

'Upon hearing his mother's words, Bhima responded, 'Mother, please ascertain the nature of the Brahmana's distress and its source. Once you've gathered all the information, I will endeavor to alleviate it, no matter how challenging the task may be.' ॥ 1-145-16 ॥

[वै] तथा हि कथयन्तौ तौ भूयः शुश्रुवतुः सवनम आर्तिजं तस्य विप्रस्य सभार्यस्य विशां पते ॥ १-१४५-१७ ॥

'Vaisampayana continued, 'As the mother and son conversed, they once more heard, O king, another lamentation of sorrow coming from the Brahmana and his wife.'' ॥ 1-145-17 ॥

[vai] tathA hi kathayantau tau bhUyaH zuzruvatuH savanama ArtijaM tasya viprasya sabhAryasya vizAM pate ॥ 1-145-17 ॥

अन्तःपुरं ततस तस्य बराह्मणस्य महात्मनः विवेश कुन्ती तवरिता बद्धवत्सेव सौरभी ॥ १-१४५-१८ ॥

'Then Kunti quickly entered the inner apartments of that illustrious Brahmana, like unto a cow running towards her tethered calf.' ॥ 1-145-18 ॥

'Thereafter, she beheld that Brahmana there along with his wife, son, and daughter, all with distressed faces.' ॥ 1-145-19 ॥

[बर] धिग इदं जीवितं लॊके ऽनल सारम अनर्थकम दुःखमूलं पराधीनं भृशम अप्रियभागि च ॥ १-१४५-२० ॥

'She heard the Brahmana lament, "Oh, woe to this worldly life, as empty as a hollow reed, devoid of fruitfulness, entrenched in sorrow, lacking freedom, and burdened with misery!' ॥ 1-145-20 ॥
