[भम] समरन्ति वैरं रक्षांसि मायाम आश्रित्य मॊहिनीम हिडिम्बे वरज पन्थानं तवं वै भरातृनिषेवितम ।। १-१४३-१ ।।

sanskrit

'Vaisampayana said, O Hidimba, be mindful that the Rakshasas, wielding their enchanting and deceptive powers, harbor an unwavering sense of enmity. It would be wise for you to tread the path once traversed by your brother, seeking solace and guidance in his footsteps.' ।। 1-143-1 ।।

'Yudhishthira, witnessing the fury that had consumed Bhima, beseeched him, saying, "O Bhima, my valiant brother, thou who art a true tiger among men, even in the face of such provocation, I implore thee to stay thy hand and refrain from striking down a woman. Remember, O noble Pandava, that the adherence to dharma and the steadfast observance of virtue must always take precedence over the mere preservation of one's mortal life."' ।। 1-143-2 ।।

'Hidimba, who came to kill us, has already been slain by you. This woman is his sister; even if she were angry, what could she possibly do to us?' ।। 1-143-3 ।।

vadhAbhiprAyama AyAntama avadhIsa tavaM mahAbalama rakSasasa tasyA bhaginI kiM naH karuddhA kariSyati || 1-143-3 ||

'Vaisampayana continued, In the aftermath of the confrontation, Hidimba approached Kunti with reverence, her hands folded in a gesture of respect. She then addressed Yudhishthira, the noble son of Kunti, speaking these words:' ।। 1-143-4 ।।

'O virtuous and revered lady, you are well acquainted with the profound anguish that women in this world must endure, the sorrow that is born from the depths of love itself. It is this very affliction that has now befallen me, a fate brought about by the actions of the mighty Bhimasena, O auspicious one.' ।। 1-143-5 ।।
