यदा तु कार्यम अस्माकं भवद्भिर उपपत्स्यते तदा करिष्यथ मम परियाणि च हितानि च ॥ १-१३३-१६ ॥
'When the time comes for you to act on our behalf, please do what is favorable and beneficial for us.' ॥ 1-133-16 ॥
english translation
yadA tu kAryama asmAkaM bhavadbhira upapatsyate tadA kariSyatha mama pariyANi ca hitAni ca ॥ 1-133-16 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptते तथेति परतिज्ञाय कृत्वा चैतान परदक्षिणम आशीर्भिर अभिनन्द्यैनाञ जग्मुर नगरम एव हि ॥ १-१३३-१७ ॥
'Thus addressed, the citizens walked round the Pandavas and blessed them with their blessings and returned to their respective abodes.' ॥ 1-133-17 ॥

te tatheti paratijJAya kRtvA caitAna paradakSiNama AzIrbhira abhinandyainAJa jagmura nagarama eva hi ॥ 1-133-17 ॥

'When the citizens had departed, Vidura, the knower of all duties, approached the foremost of the Pandavas and spoke these words: "The wise, the learned, the expert in conversation, and the one with a clear vision of righteousness and wealth."' ॥ 1-133-18 ॥

paureSu tu nivRtteSu viduraH sarvadharmavita bòdhayana pANDavazreSThama idaM vacanama abravIta parAjJaH parAjJaM paralApajJaH samyaga dharmArthadarzivAna ॥ 1-133-18 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptविज्ञायेदं तथा कुर्याद आपदं निस्तरेद यथा अलॊहं निशितं शस्त्रं शरीरपरिकर्तनम यॊ वेत्ति न तम आघ्नन्ति परतिघातविदं दविषः ॥ १-१३३-१९ ॥
'Vidura advised, "One who understands the strategies devised by enemies, guided by the principles of statecraft, should act wisely to avoid dangers. Knowledge is akin to armor. Just as weapons, not necessarily of steel, can still slice through the body, so too can one who is aware of such threats and the means to neutralize them remain unscathed by his adversaries."' ॥ 1-133-19 ॥

vijJAyedaM tathA kuryAda ApadaM nistareda yathA alòhaM nizitaM zastraM zarIraparikartanama yò vetti na tama Aghnanti paratighAtavidaM daviSaH ॥ 1-133-19 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptकक्षघ्नः शिशिरघ्नश च महाकक्षे बिलौकसः न दहेद इति चात्मानं यॊ रक्षति स जीवति ॥ १-१३३-२० ॥
'Survival hinges on the ability to shield oneself with awareness, just as creatures in a deep forest are unharmed by the fire that consumes only exposed straw and wood.' ॥ 1-133-20 ॥
