मञ्चांश च कारयाम आसुस तत्र जानपदा जनाः विपुलान उच्छ्रयॊपेताञ शिबिकाश च महाधनाः ।। १-१२४-११ ।।

sanskrit

'They also constructed elevated platforms there, where people from various regions could sit comfortably. These platforms were adorned with rich carpets and cushions.' ।। 1-124-11 ।।

english translation

maJcAMza ca kArayAma Asusa tatra jAnapadA janAH vipulAna ucchrayòpetAJa zibikAza ca mahAdhanAH || 1-124-11 ||

तस्मिंस ततॊ ऽहनि पराप्ते राजा ससचिवस तदा भीष्मं परमुखतः कृत्वा कृपं चाचार्य सत्तमम ।। १-१२४-१२ ।।

sanskrit

'On the day appointed for the tournament, the king, accompanied by his ministers, along with Bhishma and Kripa, the foremost of preceptors, arrived.' ।। 1-124-12 ।।

english translation

tasmiMsa tatò 'hani parApte rAjA sasacivasa tadA bhISmaM paramukhataH kRtvA kRpaM cAcArya sattamama || 1-124-12 ||

मुक्ताजालपरिक्षिप्तं वैडूर्य मणिभूषितम शातकुम्भमयं दिव्यं परेक्षागारम उपागमत ।। १-१२४-१३ ।।

sanskrit

'Walking ahead, they arrived at the theater, resplendent like that of celestial beauty, crafted from pure gold, and adorned with strings of pearls and lapis lazuli stones.' ।। 1-124-13 ।।

muktAjAlaparikSiptaM vaiDUrya maNibhUSitama zAtakumbhamayaM divyaM parekSAgArama upAgamata || 1-124-13 ||

गान्धारी च महाभागा कुन्ती च जयतां वर सत्रियश च सर्वा या राज्ञः सप्रेष्याः सपरिच्छदाः हर्षाद आरुरुहुर मञ्चान मेरुं देव सत्रियॊ यथा ।। १-१२४-१४ ।।

sanskrit

'And, O foremost among victorious men, Gandhari, blessed with great fortune, along with Kunti and the other noble ladies of the royal household, adorned in magnificent attire and accompanied by their attendants, joyfully ascended the platforms, resembling celestial beings ascending Mount Sumeru.' ।। 1-124-14 ।।

gAndhArI ca mahAbhAgA kuntI ca jayatAM vara satriyaza ca sarvA yA rAjJaH sapreSyAH saparicchadAH harSAda Aruruhura maJcAna meruM deva satriyò yathA || 1-124-14 ||

बराह्मणक्षत्रियाद्यं च चातुर्वर्ण्यं पुराद दरुतम दर्शनेप्सु समभ्यागात कुमाराणां कृतास्त्रताम ।। १-१२४-१५ ।।

sanskrit

'The sons, desiring to witness the spectacle, arrived from various quarters of the city, representing all four varnas, Brahmins, Kshatriyas, Vaishyas, and Shudras, eager to observe the display of martial skills.' ।। 1-124-15 ।।
