सपृहयाम्य अद्य निर्वेदात पुरुषाणां सचक्षुषाम अस्त्रहेतॊः पराक्रान्तान्ये मे दरक्ष्यन्ति पुत्रकान ॥ १-१२४-६ ॥
'Today, I am going to gratify all men's desires, especially those of the spectators, as the weapons hurled by other heroes might hurt my sons," the king said.' ॥ 1-124-6 ॥
english translation
कषत्तर यद गुरुर आचार्यॊ बरवीति कुरु तत तथा न हीदृशं परियं मन्ये भविता धर्मवत्सलः ॥ १-१२४-७ ॥
'"O Kshatriya (Vidura), follow all that Drona advises. O one devoted to virtue, I believe there is nothing that could be more pleasing to me," the king said.' ॥ 1-124-7 ॥

ततॊ राजानम आमन्त्र्य विदुरानुगतॊ बहिः भारद्वाजॊ महाप्राज्ञॊ मापयाम आस मेदिनीम समाम अवृक्षां निर्गुल्माम उदक परवण संस्थिताम ॥ १-१२४-८ ॥
'Having assured the king, Vidura went out to fulfill his task as instructed. Meanwhile, Drona, possessing great wisdom, measured out a piece of land devoid of trees and thickets but adorned with wells and springs.' ॥ 1-124-8 ॥

तस्यां भूमौ बलिं चक्रे तिथौ नक्षत्रपूजिते अवघुष्टं पुरे चापि तदर्थं वदतां वर ॥ १-१२४-९ ॥
'Drona, the foremost among eloquent men, performed a sacrificial ritual on the measured-out land on a lunar day when the auspicious star was ascendant. This ceremony was conducted in the presence of assembled citizens who had been gathered to witness it through proclamation.' ॥ 1-124-9 ॥

रङ्ग भूमौ सुविपुलं शास्त्रदृष्टं यथाविधि परेक्षागारं सुविहितं चक्रुस तत्र च शिल्पिनः राज्ञः सर्वायुधॊपेतं सत्रीणां चैव नरर्षभ ॥ १-१२४-१० ॥
'They constructed a spacious arena according to the rules of scriptures, adorned with viewing galleries. Skilled artisans crafted it. It was furnished with all kinds of weapons for the king and the best of men attending the assembly.' ॥ 1-124-10 ॥
