सत्कृतॊ ऽसक्तृतॊ वापि यॊ ऽनयां कृपण चक्षुषा उपैति वृत्तिं कामात्मा स शुनां वर्तते पथि ॥ १-११०-२१ ॥
'Regardless of whether he is respected or disrespected in the world, the man who, driven by greed, casts a begging look at others certainly behaves like a dog. (Being unable to procreate, I should not, out of a desire for offspring, solicit others to give me children).' ॥ 1-110-21 ॥

[व] एवम उक्त्वा सुदुःखार्तॊ निःश्वासपरमॊ नृपः अवेक्षमाणः कुन्तीं च माद्रीं च समभाषत ॥ १-११०-२२ ॥
'Vaisampayana continued, 'The king, having thus wept in sorrow, with a sigh looked at his two wives Kunti and Madri, and addressed them.' ॥ 1-110-22 ॥

कौसल्या विदुरः कषत्ता राजा च सह बन्धुभिः आर्या सत्यवती भीष्मस ते च राजपुरॊहिताः ॥ १-११०-२३ ॥
'He said, "Let my mother, the princess of Kosala, Vidura, the king along with our friends, the venerable Satyavati, Bhishma, and the priests of our family, be informed."' ॥ 1-110-23 ॥

बराह्मणाश च महात्मानः सॊमपाः संशितव्रताः पौरवृद्धाश च ये तत्र निवसन्त्य अस्मद आश्रयाः परसाद्य सर्वे वक्तव्याः पाण्डुः परव्रजितॊ वनम ॥ १-११०-२४ ॥
'Let the noble Brahmins who partake in the Soma ritual, upholding strict vows, and all the respected elders under our care, be duly notified that Pandu has chosen to retire to the forest for a life of asceticism.' ॥ 1-110-24 ॥

निशम्य वचनं भर्तुर वनवासे धृतात्मनः तत समं वचनं कुन्ती माद्री च समभाषताम ॥ १-११०-२५ ॥
'Upon hearing the words of their determined husband, who had resolved to lead a life of asceticism in the forest, both Kunti and Madri responded with appropriate words.' ॥ 1-110-25 ॥
