संप्रयुक्तश च कुन्त्या च माद्र्या च भरतर्षभ जिततन्द्रीस तदा पाण्डुर बभूव वनगॊचरः ॥ १-१०६-६ ॥
'A little while after, O bull of Bharata's race, Pandu who had achieved a victory over sloth and lethargy, accompanied by his two wives, Kunti and Madri, retired into the woods.' ॥ 1-106-6 ॥

saMprayuktaza ca kuntyA ca mAdryA ca bharatarSabha jitatandrIsa tadA pANDura babhUva vanagòcaraH ॥ 1-106-6 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptहित्वा परासादनिलयं शुभानि शयनानि च अरण्यनित्यः सततं बभूव मृगया परः ॥ १-१०६-७ ॥
'Leaving his excellent palace with its luxurious beds, he became a permanent inhabitant of the woods, devoting the whole of his time to the chase of the deer.' ॥ 1-106-7 ॥
english translation
hitvA parAsAdanilayaM zubhAni zayanAni ca araNyanityaH satataM babhUva mRgayA paraH ॥ 1-106-7 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptस चरन दक्षिणं पार्श्वं रम्यं हिमवतॊ गिरेः उवास गिरिपृष्ठेषु महाशालवनेषु च ॥ १-१०६-८ ॥
'And fixing his abode in a delightful and hilly region overgrown with huge sala trees, on the southern slope of the Himavat mountains, he roamed about in perfect freedom.' ॥ 1-106-8 ॥

sa carana dakSiNaM pArzvaM ramyaM himavatò gireH uvAsa giripRSTheSu mahAzAlavaneSu ca ॥ 1-106-8 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptरराज कुन्त्या माद्र्या च पाण्डुः सह वने वसन करेण्वॊर इव मध्यस्थः शरीमान पौरंदरॊ गजः ॥ १-१०६-९ ॥
'The handsome Pandu with his two wives wandered in those woods like Airavata accompanied by two she-elephants.' ॥ 1-106-9 ॥

rarAja kuntyA mAdryA ca pANDuH saha vane vasana kareNvòra iva madhyasthaH zarImAna pauraMdarò gajaH ॥ 1-106-9 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptभारतं सह भार्याभ्यां बाणखड्गधनुर्धरम विचित्रकवचं वीरं परमास्त्र विदं नृपम देवॊ ऽयम इत्य अमन्यन्त चरन्तं वनवासिनः ॥ १-१०६-१० ॥
'And the dwellers in those woods, beholding the heroic Bharata prince in the company of his wives, armed with sword, arrows, and bow, clad with his beautiful armour, and skilled in all excellent weapons, regarded him as the very god wandering amongst them.' ॥ 1-106-10 ॥

bhArataM saha bhAryAbhyAM bANakhaDgadhanurdharama vicitrakavacaM vIraM paramAstra vidaM nRpama devò 'yama itya amanyanta carantaM vanavAsinaH ॥ 1-106-10 ॥
